A lot of Rolex threads are amusing reads ... "Help, hairline scratch on my clasp! Is xyz too big on me?"

Meanwhile my favorite part about Rolex is that they still are fully usable tool watches for real life rough and outdoor conditions - however madly priced luxury items they also have evolved into. Best of both worlds really, all in one.

Most recent arrival, the 116660 deep blue. Perfect kitesurfing watch (alternating with a yellow GShock Gulfmaster). Whatever desk diver types say about it being too big or top heavy or the bracelet this and that ... all becomes irrelevant and plain silly when you're busy busting hard to ride out past a 4 meter giant wall of surf shorebreak, huge waves crashing all around, working up the speed to catch a jump big enough to get past the mayhem out into the open seas.

You want the biggest, baddest Rolex for all this amusement, and the Deep Sea feels exactly 100% right for the task.

Before this the job fell to the Smurf which worked just as well (still have it of course). But why not go full big boy size and max power if you're going all out with your ocean adventures.

Thumbs up for the 116660 - especially past the safe confines of a desk!

Shot evening after all the fun is over and still looking just as ready for semi civilized company at dinner:
