They were about 4.5 to 5k about a year ago. I see them at 9-10k range on some grey sites

Sorry, not a chance. For the classics, I'd go with the GMT 16700, or even the 16710. Another one that I like are the Submariner 16610LVs. There you have it fellas.

Not a very pretty piece.
If it had a equivalent in clothing, I’d say it
Would look like a boxy pair of khakis

I don't have a crystal ball. But I have been seeing these gain popularity and hence secondary market values compared to 2-3 years ago. Well deserved they've always been underrated. Just sold mine but will miss the watch.

I didn't see what EW had to say about the 16570, but with two exceptions, the watch isn't very unique, or scarce. The cream dial, tritium lume is the watch I would be after.

They used to be undervalued when the 3185 versions were ~$4k and the 3186s were around $5k. Now though they are priced a lot closer to the 6 digits, which I think are much nicer for the same money. The 5 digit Exp2 won't be collectables ever, except the rare case of the cream dial errors. There are just way too many of them out there. Can't blame Hodinkee for reaching here though since I feel so many new (I did not say young) collectors for whatever reason tend to need and want to justify their purchases as investments/collectables.

This was a good value at $4300 and still think it's a great watch but I wouldn't pay current market prices

If, and when, Rolex pricing comes down, these (and all of the not as popular as Sub/GMT/Daytona/etc.) will be the first to come down and their prices will come down the most.

So, for the immediate future it could be a good get in and flip. But if one holds it too long, they will get stuck with it.

I see there’s I a lot of wis out there people have to understand this is new normal There’s more 16710 our as much as the 16570 and those are trading through the roof just because there’s a lot of something doesn’t mean it’s collectible 1965 mustang were over a million made and there collectible it’s what is popular that matters

Not sure about the hype on the Polar. There are many more desirable models in my opinion.
