Rolex UAE dial vs Rolex Oman dial

Hi all,

Is Rolex still making new watches with a UAE logo on the dial like they still do with Rolex with Oman engraving that the Sultanate offers as present to high ranking officials/dignitaries to the government?

If so where are they sold?

I believe the Oman engraved Rolex's can only be obtained from Rolex dealer KHIMJI RAMDAS L.L.C in Muscat.

Grts,

R

Live in dubai and never seen any for sale in the last two years, private or dealer so assume no longer in Production.

Why would you want a “new” watch that has another country’s flag? I get the omani vintage subs/daytonas... it’s a vintage watch, there’s a story behind it... but a new one? Not sure.

Nothing on the dial for a very long time...

I saw a few modern pieces with Omani khanjar on the caseback only.

I don't know about UAE, but for Oman, Rolex will only engrave the caseback with the khanjar (nothing on the dial). Those engraved watches can only be ordered by the The Royal Court / ruler's office via the local (and sole) Rolex AD in Oman. They come with an outer box that also is printed or embossed with a large red khanjar logo.

These are usually given as gifts by The Royal Court / ruler's office and as you can see, these watches are sometimes flipped. Oddly enough, I see the majority of them end up with Italian dealers, although no idea why they end up in Italy specifically.

Hi, I have just joined after searching the web about the Oman Engraving. I know this is an old thread but perhaps it will strike a chord with someone.

I worked in Oman for a little while about 15 or so years ago, and i bought a Rolex Datejust , it has a gold and steel bracelet..no papers or box.

It has the crossed Khanjars on the back, it also has a Crown above the swords, which allegedly means it comes directly from the office of the Emir. I was told no crown on the back and it came from a department in the administration.

Does anyone know if this is true or just a story? Also will it effect the value if i want to sell the watch

I had the watch serviced by Rolex when i bought it and it is genuine.

Thanks

Without proper provenance it's a bit like Tiffany dials and I consider them fake.
Quite easy to make an engraving and put a stamp on a box.

A fool and his money ...

Just to clarify, although Rolex say the watch is genuine, because it has the engraving it would be regarded as worthless?

No, absolutely not, Rolex is the only one who can confirm originality.
If you get a service (or estimate) from a RSC and they mention the Khanjar case back on the service papers than you have your provenance

Thanks for that i will follow that up.

i paid about 27.5% of the new price at the time, that reflected lack of papers and box. ( or so I was told!!) , i bought it on a bit of a whim.

Also there were loads of them on sale as the economy was going through a tricky patch when i was there so people were wanting quick money.
