Posted WTB Listing, Receiving Strange PM's

Hey guys, posted a WTB ad today and have been getting lots of similar messages from new users, claiming someone they know has the watch I am looking for. They are both new users, with 0 posts, claiming the same thing except for a different email. I feel like a broken record, but be careful out there.

These posts bring out the scammers. The second one you listed is from Nigeria, I’ve banned that account. The first one is supposedly based in the US but I would never trust with absolutely no background.
Why don’t you try contacting one of the boutique sellers listed on the top page of the FS section?

WTB is an easy place for scammers to find people ready to spend, TRF mods do a great job but can't stop them all

I have contacted a couple but trying to expand my reach. Thanks for the info and recommendation.

Yeah, seems to be the case. I had no idea as it's the first time I have posted a 'WTB'. You learn something new every day.

Posting a WTB ad is like telling everyone "I'm prepared to wire 10k to a stranger on the internet"

Expect nothing but scammers.

Don’t do it. From your vantage (newbie etc),gonna be a huge waste of time and expanding your reach to a bunch of dudes trying to steal your money. Targeted search Trusted Sellers here. There are so many

These scammers want communication to happen in email. It’s all a scam.

If anyone wants you to email them, it’s a scam.

It's the opposite

It's the opposite here: the scam offers I get, come from the non-valid numbers, which are still active on WhatsApp, but not tied to any sim card, and which are impossible to track down. It seems suspicious when someone can't call you on the phone. I did my homework and tried calling those numbers from both cell and land line, in most cases when I call the given number, it is no longer in use. That's how they do it in Europe.

Yeah, I haven’t gotten one legitimate response. All scams. Thanks everyone for the information. This is my first and last ‘WTB’ post, haha.

WTB is a honey pot that draws scammers - I doubt the trusted sellers ever spend any time there to match up an item they have for sale.

If a few get banned, then that’s a good outcome.

Happens every time I've tried it, a great honeypot as has been mentioned. Don't ever click on their links!
