Bad A$$ Patek

So I received a compliment/comment on the 5524G I was wearing.
“Wow... that’s a bad a$$ Patek”
Youngish guy, late 20’s, early 30’s or so. Very nice guy, had a nice conversation after his comment.
But....it got me thinking....is there such a thing? I mean...a bad A$$ Patek?
It’s not the first thing that comes to mind typically when I think Patek.
So I thought as far as a 5524G ... maybe? The only other that would come to mind under that thought process (for me) would be the 5990.
Anyway, just rambling on something that struck me as odd & funny.

i'm more amazed he knew what that was, i feel like most people would only be able to identify a nautilus as a patek. guess the guy was an actual enthusiast lol

My guess: he did not know what it was at first. He initially noticed the design language first and that it was intriguing in an appealing way. Then then saw the name on the dial. Then his mind was blown and the comment came.

It is a fantastic reference and truly awesome in person.

Thanks to social media........

Brand Recognition.... The first brand that is the master of this is Rolex..... You can go anywhere in the world and people will know that a Rolex watch is a thing of value..... Next is Patek Philippe has way more brand recognition worldwide..... I would say that in the “expensive’ watch world, right after Rolex everyone recognizes Patek Philippe.....

Example, if you show them a very old and thin Calatrava and they will read the name and say OMG it’s a Patek Philippe.....

Cheers,

Love all the elements of the design of the 5524.

At 42 it is beyond my comfort zone but it is a wonderfully designed and balanced dial. Also love the feel of the click stop of the hour hand pushers.

I expect if it was 40mm in steel everything else the same and it would be massively sought after.

Remember that buying a PP is a ticket to become member of, like, them upper class.

Overthinking it. “It is a serious watch” was what he likely meant.

to be honest, i don't see a lot of pateks in the wild no mater where i go. so to see one in the wild would be a nice encounter.
it's nice when people show appreciation :)

He expressed his emotion, means hi liked it. For each of us "bad a$$" watch is what we like, it can be dressy unusual 5235 or hyped Nau

I feel like a 5296g-001 or 5127r on NATO's would be pretty badass
