Thoughts on 1501 Date Models

I have a rather nice 1501 with a silver linen dial that dates from 1963. I'm thinking about selling it as it never gets worn and was curious if anyone thinks the demand for 1501's will increase or decrease over the next six months to a year?

That is a beautiful watch and the tapestry dial is lovely! I can only see these pieces increasing in value, although perhaps not at the same rate as a sport model. It is a Rolex after all…

Watches that size and vintage have steadily gone up in value for the past several years. I expect that to continue. That’s a great dial.

These are not “get rich quick” Rolexes, but they have been holding their value very well. And they are very easy to sell (so far) if reasonably priced.

Thanks everyone. I’ll have to look around and see what the going rate is for something like this.

I've been pursuing the dealer thread. Does anyone have some recommendations located within the US?

How does it never get worn? That's a beauty!

It looks tight on that holder, though - that will stretch the bracelet over time. Let it loose. Ziploc bags are your friend.

I think the demand will probably increase or decrease. Unless it stays the same.

Size always holds the 34mm references back a bit, so it's mainly a question of how the style of men's watches evolves, and your guess is as good as anyone's.

Fantastic prediction.

I probably enjoy a 34 mm more than a 36. So subtle and refined. And I'm not a small-boned gentleman.
