Walked into a AD Last Saturday....

Chatted up the salesman-wore my Milgauss and asked to see some watches. Have never done business there before-was offered a 1908, and a 36MM Platinum President if I wanted to buy them. Anyone else surprised to get an offer recently like that?

In the UK many PM watches over the £30k/$35k mark (Day Dates/GMT's/Sky Dwellers etc) can be got from an AD without a purchase history as the demand's low and there's no profit in flipping them

I also tried on a YG 1908 yesterday but it didn't really do anything for me

1908 was the black dial which is sort of blah-the Platinum one would have tempted me.

I was a bit more slight/delicate than I'd hoped it would be

I agree that the platinum would have been more interesting but still didn't think it would have suited me and I wouldn't have been offered it!

Was the PM DD 40mm? I've seen the 36 but never a 40.

Well that's what all ADs are in business for to sell as many of the products they sell in there retail watch shop to anyone that enters there retail shop.

I had the same experience; I'm down for the platinum.

Over the past year my local AD has offered 40mm WG black dial YG Black dial batons and baguettes and YG white dial to anyone that has shown interest

At first it was a case of 'could make an exception' with regards to no purchase history but now it's just 'it's available to buy today'

The times they are a-changed

I was just in AD in DC. They had full YG SkyD and RG OF rhodium dial (looked nice - that rhodium dial even looked a bit green) SkyD available for sale just sitting in the store showcase … SA told me which ones were not exhibition.

I just think PM pieces are getting harder to sell in this market.
