Free / Found NOS Montblanc Pen Story
So, my company's corporate office is bifurcating. The C-suite, investment, and accounting teams are moving to a new building and the operations team is staying in the current building.
As the departing folks are cleaning and packing their offices, they're putting the items they don't want in the kitchen for others to take. Stuff like company SWAG, briefcases, laptop cases, etc. are all finding their way to the kitchen. It's kind of cool... like a swapmeet for people to be able to take things they might need and give stuff one final chance at life before being thrown away. On Thursday, I walked into the kitchen and, sitting by itself, on the center island was a large Montblanc pen box. I thought it was odd because it wasn't on the counter with the other "up for grabs" stuff and it wasn't the typical item one would give away. So, I investigated it and, inside is an older (tarnished), never used, sterling silver Montblanc Solitaire Legrand rollerball pen. I immediately thought that somebody put it down to get something out of the refrigerator and walked away and forgot it, so I took it to my office to secure it and then proceeded to let our receptionist know I had it. I then called our Founder's Executive Assistant to let her know in case it belonged to the Founder. Well, sure enough, it was our Founder's. He had it laying around in his office forever, had never used it, and didn't want it; so he asked her to give it to someone and she put it in the kitchen. She immediately said, "Oh, he will be SOOO glad that you got it!!! I should have thought of you because I know how much you love nice pens!!" I took it to the local boutique to have it cleaned and found that this pen was released in 1996, so the pen is likely 25 years old with all accessories brand new. The pen is now cleaned, looks spectacular, and will probably be in daily use!! Guess it was a lucky day!! |

Silver Legrand is a pretty cool find - for free.
You can get the Legrand Rollerball Refill in Broad which is great for signatures.

Ya know, the more I drool over this pen I understand that it is a $600.00 pen and I am jealous!
Once in a lifetime!

It may have retailed for $600 at some time in the past, but it has been discontinued in that format and now goes for 900-ish on eBay.
