I saw a guy on my local train wearing a Sub LN. I just stared at it, it was so perfect. The guy noticed and got quite nervous. (I am 6'6" and worked out at the time) I then bought my first Sub date LV.

I know I shouldn't admit it but I don't want another watch. To me it's perfect.

Not a watch I want right now, but maybe one day ... yellow two-tone DJ36, fluted, jubilee, champagne dial. To me, this will always be THE classic Rolex.

I would say that it was in two phases. First one, when I was a kid and my cousin bought his Sub 16610LN in 1994 (which I own since some years ago and it will “die” with me, although it doesn’t spend many time in my wrist). The second and definitely moment, when I saw a Daytona in the wild for first time in 2002 or so.

In love with Rolex and especially with the Daytona since then.

My fathers 16758 GMT in the 80s when I was little. Still love the watch today and I’m hoping he will give it to me one day.

I would t go so far as to say I have a passion for Rolex as a brand. I will buy a watch from any maker if like it.
Saying that, I have 4 Rolex and 5 from other makes. I have no plans to buy a other Rolex from the current range.
My first Rolex was a 36 Explorer.

I went about around it - first one that caught my eye was the Exp2, 216750 model, black dial. And I got it. Others followed but that one, even if I do not wear it that much now, has a special place in my collection (also my first Rolex).

It is also the last of the non blingy tool watches they made, with no ceramic bezel and matte dial. The new model has the shiny black dial and hence is not that interesting to me.

Now, if they re-did the 216750 in a 40 or 41 mm size with the lug to lug of Sub41, that would make me switch. :)

Not sure about 'passion', but I saw my first Rolexes in 1965-68.

Thanks to whomever resurrected this thread. It has been a fun read!

I am shocked that no one was as mesmerized as I in the 80’s, with Don Johnson and the YG PRESIDENTIAL from MIAMI VICE! That show was the best, and they had to have everything that was the best. That watch was all the money in the world at that time!
Fun to reminisce….

Submariner. I remember seeing it for the first time and actually feeling very underwhelmed by it. It felt as though I had seen the watch numerous times before; but came to realize that it was a testament to this watch, its reach, and how much it had been copied.

Rolex 1603 and white 116500 (I came across 1603 first and was smitten by it and then I came across the Daytona not too long after and then I was in to Rolex). Before then I was an IWC person completely.

It was my uncles DayDate that he wore when I was in my teens, likely an 1803, it had a rare mesh bracelet that was an option in the 70’s. But as I got older it was the Explorer that really spark my interest and I felt would be obtainable at some point.

Explorer II 1655, my first Rolex. I lost it out of a hotel room, my next watch a TT Datejust. Eventually I bought a Exp II Polar 16570, which is at the center of my collection.

Exp II Polar
Sub Date
Cellini 5116
TT Datejust
AirKing
TT Lady's Datejust

I was a science nerd growing up, unsurprisingly it was the Milgauss GV. Still have not gotten around to it, surprisingly.

Sub 16613 lb. A guy was wearing one on a boat that I was on when I was younger and I thought it looked amazing.

Like many here, I was first drawn to Rolex by the black Sub on Sean Connery's wrist.
As I got older, I equated success with the YG DD. I usually saw that on the wrist of people that owned or ran companies I called on.
I've owned the Sub (in 6 digit ceramic) but not the DD.
