The Cuban Sub
Who knew that these boys wore Subbies rather than the standard-issue Soviet tool watches? The ad campaign might have looked something like this...

Cool ad. What is the source of this ad? Is it a magazine? You don't see to many of these.

http://www.powderburns.org/felix.html But by his own account Rodriguez's most magnificent moment came when he lifted off in a helicopter from La Higuera, Bolivia, on October 9, 1967, with Che Guevara's body lashed to the right skid. "On my wrist was his steel Rolex GMT Master with its red-and-blue bezel," he recounted. "In my breast pocket, wrapped in paper from my loose-leaf notebook, was the partially smoked tobacco from his last pipe." |

Hmmm. If I recall correctly, Senor Guevara wore a GMT, not a Sub. Supposedly the colonel who was in charge of killing Che ended up owning the watch to this day.
Anyway, nice ad. It might go nicely with JJ's own endorsement:

Nah, Victor, the JJ ad's been on this forum for about a year already - I just dust it off and drag it out every once in a while.

Nice photo-chop! I'd love to get my hands on that issue of Watch Time magazine. Isn't that the June 2003 issue?

Che wore a SS-GMT given to him by Castro. Felex Rodriquez was the CIA operative in Boliva when Che was wounded and captured. After the Bolivans executed Che, Felix went and choped both his hands off to bring back to Washinghton D.C. for positive figerprint ID. He then took the SS-GMT for himself aswell as some tobacco from Che as souveneirs. He lives down in Miami till this day and still has the GMT in his possession.

OK... ok... Got it... point taken... (lol!) Tell ya what I'm gonna do... In the interest of accuracy, which I am ALL ABOUT, would someone please provide me with an appropriate front ahead shot of a GMT, taken roughtly the same angle as the Sub on the ad and I will fix it and repost it for all of our enjoyment... I will say that I am thrilled that so many of you got a kick out of it, so much as I did... As a professional graphic designer, I spend so much of my time catering to the whims of my clients... I LOVE my work, and periodically it just a hoot to go and knock something like this off for laughs... Even if I never shared this with anyone, I got a big kick out of it... so glad you all did too!
