Educate me on Tudor watches

As a relatively new member of this forum, I have noted quite a few references to Tudor timepieces. From what I can gather, there is some sort of association between Rolex and Tudor.

I would appreciate some information on the association, if any. Also, I have never seen a Tudor timepiece in person and I am not aware of any dealers in the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. Where can they be purchased new? Who manufacturers Tudor watches and what of their quality? Why do they seem to have such a limited sales network?

Tudor is owner by Rolex, but has an ETA movement.

As for rarity here in the US, it's because Tudor has not been distributed stateside for some time now.

They do have excellent watches, specifically the Hydro 1200.

Tudor is another brand made by Rolex, like Cellini. Their marketing was targeted towards the lower cost consumer. By no means does this mean lower quality or performance! Prior to the early years of 2000 they shared many common parts with the rolex such as the oyster case, winders and possible bands or clasps. The main differences were the movements. Rolex typical has an in house designed movements and most are COSC. Tudors typical use ETA movements that are not COSC. Some share the same movements, or eubachs I think they are called, like early daytonas and pre-tiger tudor chronos and these are becoming very collectible.
Tudors are still in production with new models sold mainly in Europe and Asia. They are still serviced and supported here in the US by Rolex service centers. At the prices I have seen they are real bargains today!

As I understand, Tudor are the watches new watchmakers produce before "graduating" to Rolex.

So its Rolex own new watchmakers, learning their trade on Tudors.

I'm not aware of any in the US anymore. Canada maybe?
Look in the for sale section here. I saw a beautiful pre-tiger chrono from Steve M. and someone was like giving away a day-date model for only $600!!

I have not seen them in the US, but available @ Rolex dealers outside (seen them and plenty in Cancun, Cozumel, Nassau)

There are no US AD's. There are a few in Canada though.
As for quality, They are excellent. I own/have owned a fair amount of them from vintage right up to current. I would say they are on par with Omega for quality.
They are a distinct company from Rolex now. Newer models have pulled away a little from the Rolex style. The movements operate well within COSC specs.

Most know I have a hankerin' for vintage Tudors but some of the new references of late like the Hydro 1200 have me dreaming at night.
As far as quality I'd put Tudor on par w/ Rolex. Some might think that's going too far. I had a chance to test drive the Hydro 1200 and DSSD while in Aruba. The Hydro was really impressive, assuming you like the boundary stretching design, and I do.

If you are a person who can look beyond buying the Rolex brand you will find a lot of joy in Tudors as I do

Tudor is not marketed for the US, anymore. Non-Rolex movements but nice watches.

The ones that really get my attention are the Daytona-looking models. I've never seen a Daytona next to one, but the pix make the case and bracelet look identical for about 20% of the Rolex cost.

When I bought my new Sub last year, the salesman told me they expect to pick up the Tudor line soo.
