Icon20 Rolex Case Back

Hello,

I would like to know that if you open the case back to a Rolex air-king
just to get the movement and insides checked out if there's a special procedure in putting back the case back so that it still remains water resistant or water proofed?

Thanks!

Well if Rolex do it or any good watchmaker, the case seal would be replaced and then pressure tested. But myself have just cleaned and put a tiny bit of silicon grease, and just screwed down the case back. But these watches were then not used or submersed in water, unless pressure retested.

Is it possible to open the case with your bare hands? Or do you need an opening tool?

It is impossible to open it with your barehand, but with a Bergeon case back opener using your hands, it is possible

If you can open it with your hand, I believe that you may want to consider changing your nocturnal activities.

thats one thing about the caseback. if you remove it youself and screw it back yourself, you can forget about it being safe to submerge in water. Trust me I know. You will have to go to your repairman to pressure test and reseal properly. I was embarassed because they said,"yOu been playing with your watch again??
