Ebay
why would any one try to purchase a watch on ebay? I have never seen any good deals and I would much rather find a trusted member on here

There are deals to be had out there, but like anything else you need to do your homework

I agree. I have purchased a few pieces from Ebay with now issues. I emailed and called the sellers that happened to be jewelry store owners before I bid. You just have to due some research.

I've seen it referred to as fleabay, sleaze bay, ohBoy, yadda yadda yadda, but the truth is that although eBay can be a minefield for a neophyte, it can also be a great resource. Are you going to find a $5,000 watch for $600? Of course not and you shouldn't expect to. These are obviously crooks preying on the uninformed. Can you find a decent deal on a decent watch? Well, I paid $4,000 U.S. for my TT Sub with all provenance except the original sales receipt from there. I figure that was a pretty good deal.
Might you be able to find a rare lesser known vintage piece for the right price? Absolutely, if you set your search parameters right then do your homework on the watch and the seller. I've purchased many watches on eBay, and every one has been authenticated. The only purchases I had a problem with were the Rolex OysterQuartz, and the seller honoured his return policy when I spotted the scratch on the dial under the coronet, and a non-working Bulova on which I lost $300. The way I do it: - study the seller. When was the last account activity? What was it for? Is his seller/buyer feedback good? Does he have a history of expensive watch sales? Is the price of the watch realistic? If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Does he provide good, clear photos of the watch? What forms of payment does he accept? As always, it's Caveat Emptor and "buy the seller, not the watch".

Also if you use paypal and you get a fake or a major problem youll get refunded easier than bank transfer to a dealer.
