Speedmaster at a Thrift Shop- would you buy it?
This afternoon I came across a well used Omega Speedmaster at a Thrift Shopfor $700. I am unable to authenticate it but looks to be the real deal. Knowing the risks, would you buy it???

If I saw a genuine one I would not hesitate.

Was it the 42mm moon or 39mm reduced? I guess either way, its still a good deal. But when a deal is too good to be true, it usually is.

While holding it in your hand - take a pix and post it up on the Omega sub forum for authentication.
Don't let it go until you have the answer.

If, on the face of it, it seemed authentic I would buy it with my CC and if it is not as described do a charge back and then hand it back - I think you are fairly well covered under the Australian Consumer Law. Have the seller put the reference # on the receipt along with the fact that s/he is selling an authentic Omega. If they wont do that then don't walk - run! I suppose you had better phone your CC people first to see if charge back for a not as described item is included. In the meantime do as Directioneng says. But honestly a Speedy for $700 in any currency would have my crap detectors out just like uncle Martin in My Favourite Martian (space metaphor extended because of the speedy connection). :-)
