Looking at a DJ2 with the smooth bezel and wondering if later down the road i can send it in to rolex to have the fluted bezel put on? If so any idea of the cost?

You can.

Lee will most likely chime in as he did this with his DJ2 a few years back I believe.

Yes you can.
As long as it does not affect the model number you can do what ever you like (as long as you pay). This includes changing dial colour as well.

I think that the fluted bezel usually has a different reference number to the plain bezel so I would guess that the answer is no.

Yes, different reference numbers for with or without fluted. 116334 vs 116300. Some service centers will say no but it's possible. A heads up is that the a fluted bezel is north of $2000.

If you can get it changed outside of a RSC make sure you keep the displaced bezel to put back on when you sell, otherwise you have a Frankenwatch and it may be hard to sell on.

i would have to say no. i had a 116300 a few years ago and called RSC BH and they told me no bc it is not original to model #

Are you looking at it as in a future purchase or looking at it as in you're holding it in your hand?

Because if it's a future purchase, my suggestion would be to just get the model with the fluted bezel to begin with...and save all the time and money down the road.

I suspect that means RSC won't do it but I suspect it is physically possible for someone else to if you can get your hands on a bezel.

Regardless, it will be cost prohibitive.

Fitting a spare fluted bezel will always be more expensive so just trade your smooth bezel watch for a fluted bezel watch when the time comes you want it.
