Rubber B SwimSkin straps for Rolexes

saw the new ad from Rubber B on the SwimSkin line for Daytonas and Yachtmasters. Looks cool - rubber strap with alligator leather look. If only my Daytona uses an Oysterflex band.

It’s taking me forever to add these to our catalogue. There’s 7 colours and 6 sizes for the Ballistic range and 2 colours and 6 sizes for the Alligator range.

There’s an Espresso Brown coming in the Alligator version, but it’s not available just yet.

I'm wondering if these will fit the SS Daytona with the Smarty Endlinks , I don't see why not, if the OF fits this one should.

The dealer information is they’re only for Daytona and Yachmaster on Oysterflex. It’s more about how they fit the clasp than how they fit the watch head.

You lost me with the fake alligator looking rubber. I wouldn't put it on my Casio Duro.

I have one on my Panerai now and there is no way to tell its rubber & my watch actually came in alligator. The idea is very smart.

a strap that is more expensive than the watch (Casio) indeed does not make sense. If you look into the product description, the material is all vulcanized rubber.

naive question. To your point, is the clasp for the Oysterflex Daytonas different from the 116500? Thanks.

Yes it is. The 6 o’clock ends all have the same tab type fitting to the clasp as the bracelet version 116500, which uses a screw, but the 12 o’clock tail end fitting is different. The photo below shows the RubberB for the 116500.

The short piece has the tab for the screw and is a fixed length, but the long piece is adjustable for size and is fixed inside the clasp by a springbar. It has a number of holes to fit the springbar at the correct length then any excess is simply cut off. The strap for the Oysterflex models has a tab at both ends, as the Oysterflex clasp uses a screw rather than a springbar inside the clasp, and both pieces come in different lengths according to the size of the original (XS, S, M, 5/7, L and XL).

Thanks. That is good to know in advance. Would you or anyone at TRF know of any adapter that might connect an Oysterflex (or this swimskin) to the 116500 clasp? Best

That’s a good question and a complex answer.

The Oysterflex strap attaches from its tab end to the clasp by screwing to a gold hinge piece that houses the springbar and allows the 3 positions of adjustment within the clasp, and this piece is retained when fitting the RubberB strap.

The DT Oyster bracelet has an “Easylink” extendable piece as the last link as it’s connection to the inside of the clasp. When fitting the correct type RubberB M103CD to the DT the “Easylink” isn’t used and is left attached to the bracelet.

Now the “Easylink” is removable from the bracelet and it would then have the same shape of fitting needed to join to the Oysterflex tab or new RubberB tab, so it could be used to attach to these new straps.

But, determining the correct size to use isn’t so easy. The Oysterflex has a pair of code letters on the tab end of each half that corresponds to the RubberB sizes of XS, S, M, 5/7, L and XL.

You’d need to use the size guide for the Submariner with “Glidelock” type bracelet to calculate the size of the strap needed by counting each link (including the SEL) to arrive at XS, S, M etc.

So the number of links at each side (6 o’clock end first) equates to 5+5=XS, 5+6=S, 6+6=M, 5+7=5/7, 6+7=L and 7+7=XL.

That might just work but as we haven’t actually had any of these straps yet I can only guess at this.
