Authenticity check: 16233 TT with black dial, 6-9 Arabic numbers, two diamonds
Hi, I’ve been searching for a gift for my significant other and I came across this 16233 (see link). It’s one of the few Rolexes I’m really drawn to but I have no idea if it’s 100% factory or custom. I’ve only found a few for sale and, of course, those listings claim it’s authentic.
Has anyone seen this dial in person? Or better yet, can confirm this is a factory dial? Thanks! (Sorry, can't post links yet) awadwatches dot com /product/rolex-16233-datejust-factory-onyx-diamond-dial-full-set-unpolished-box-papers/ |

Figured out file attachments. Here's what the dial looks like.

I have never seen that dial. The diamonds themselves are larger than a standard diamond dial of that vintage. However, I have owned and been into Rolexes for 30 years and I learn of new stuff every day.....soo my answer is I have no idea

I believe that's Factory. Very nice.

Fishing for more expertise! I'd love to make this my first Rolex (well, technically since it's a gift).

FWIW, I have a 16018 (18k DJ) w/ this dial. The first thing I did after initially receiving it, was sending it strait to RSC. It checked out. I didn't want to post pics of it yet because I'm saving up for a bracelet for it (right now it just has a strap).

fungalicon - don't know if you bought it yet - but it is an earlier version on mine (10/2016 purchase new - don't know actual production date).
Can't post links to my post - but search for "Took the Plunge - DJ - Onyx - 116233 on Oct 16, 2016 1145 am" It is Onyx and rare as far as availability and production. I think it is usually a special order face from the master catalog. I get comments on it all the time. It attracts attention of those who look at wrists. I wanted a DJ Jubilee hidden clasp but something different - this is different. |

Good luck to the OP but something is not adding up.
I have never heard Rolex giving back a fake. So the movement is legit. I know it can happen but lot of work for a legit movement in a fake case. I think I will need to follow this thread. |
