So i have the opportunity to get a new white gold ultra thin blue face perpetual. Financially it would require me to gut my entire collection plus cash.
Gone would be a Rolex SD43, Birth year 1675, Speedy tuesday 1, Pam111, Pam1349, IWC big pilot 46, and my silver dial 4500. Would you do it? The ultimate watch vs a fairly diverse and 10 years in the making collection. (honestly i probably would keep birth year pepsi). |

I’d want to make sure it really was the “ultimate” watch for you, before doing so. And how much wear do the other pieces get. If you basically wear the silver overseas and Pepsi, then it seems like this could work. But if you rotate through lots of watches over the weeks and months, it would be a difficult thing for me to do—if I were in your shoes. |

No. It's good (great actually) but no single watch is better than a collection. If you are talking retail I think you can do better through a TS.

What colors of rubber strap you will pick for a silver dial Overseas?
I have a 5520V Panda and I just ordered a white rubber strap for it. Does any one choose different colors or even different materials for a silver dial Overseas? |

No way, as a gold watch is not a daily, after 10 years it will be too dinged up. If you can manage to keep your two fav dailys + getting this, I would say go for it a fantastic 3 watch collection is actually all you need. Quality of quantity..

Has anyone fitted a 4520 or 7920 rubber strap to their 4500 or 7900?
I made an enquiry to order a green rubber but the boutique noted the clip (?) for the update is different where it seats to the deployant clasp? |

Pre-2020 blue dial on the Overseas. So different (and more beautiful) than the newer blue dials. A shame VC changed the manufacturing process.

Blue Dial
Quote:
https://www.reddit.com/r/VacheronCon..._vs_2022_blue/ I have a blue 7900 and a black 4500. My black is very deep and lacquered without any sunburst. I've definitely seen black overseas that have significant sunburst and variation as well. |

I would go in a pool with my Overseas Retrograde even though it is rated at 5ATM because I typically just stand in the water with a drink in hand. The comment was more towards the Dual Time being ideal for travel at 15ATM with the bracelet and two strap options.

Same with the silver dials. Older versions have a cool frosted silver look. The newer versions are a pure sunburst. |

I feel the dial change is a political/faction thing. Many of those with old ones insisting that they were different and better in the old days and many of those with new one insisting there has been no change.
I have the new dial. I don’t see brushed sunburst (though I’m not looking with a loop, but I can easily see sunburst in my Moser and JLC watches—so maybe less obvious for VC) but it’s reflective so it sometimes has radial lines out that seem to be a sunburst effect. I have no idea whether they changed or the extent of the change. It wouldn’t surprise me if manufacturing processes did change. I guess if it’s important to you buy a used one as the price has gone down. Regardless, I think the blue is still very nice. |
