My Rolex wait times in order of purchase, BLNR Oyster was 5 months. White Ceramic Daytona, 6 weeks. White Explorer 216570, 4 months. Hulk, 6 months. Been waiting for a BLRO and a Blue SkyD for 10 months. The wait is what makes it all worth it IMO. If I walked in and picked them up I would enjoy them the same but I wouldn't appreciate them as much. I feel like I "earned" the watches. Part of the fun of the hobby.

It's simple. Some have patience and some don't. That's not meant negatively. There are people who want what they want and they want it now.
They will justify paying more to get it right now. Both types are necessary parts of this watch collecting hobby. They both help it thrive. |

I recently had dealings with one of the trusted dealers on here, JUSTROLEXES also goes by SDW Trading. Tony is an exceptional gentleman to deal with. Now I understand why they call them Trusted Sellers here! If you want something they have, you’re in luck and no wait...

P = predicted number of years waiting list
A = average annual increase in MSRP by Rolex O = maximum percentage over MSRP worth paying P x A = O Use the formula to make sure your not getting completely ripped off and go buy the watch. Waiting for something can be fun, for like a month or two, but years and years.... kinda kills the whole thing for me (unless you need to save up the funds, in which case, you kinda have no choice but to wait anyway, in which case I suppose you wouldn’t have to much of an issue with a waiting list.) |

I think for many people the lack of supply has helped foster this 'bad taste' for ADs. I still enjoy the experience, although more so when I could walk in and see display cases full of a bevy of Rolex models. While some have a disdain for ADs since they seem to pass off everyone that calls or walks in wanting an SS piece, they still have other things to sell. Good relationships can be made, and undoubtedly be helpful if you desire to not purchase from greys.

Always lots of talk about saving tax from a grey purchase. Great if you live in a sales tax free state, but if not you are supposed to be paying sales tax in your home state. Tax may be applicable on certain sales/trades too (e.g. I believe in NY a sale/trade to a NY buyer requires you as seller to pay sales tax on the outgoing watch...)
I'm not a tax advisor but be careful out there guys. If you have to stay onside with anyone in life... Make sure it's the IRS/tax man closely followed by the wife :) Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

I dont mind a bit of a wait... I have to wait for all sorts of things. I guess if I didn't have any watches it might be different.

One hundred times beating the same foam.
Why all this idle discussion? Gentlemen don't talk about money. Is not it? |

I have no patience when it comes to my wants and desires. I'm not going to go nuts and spend thousands over retail, but having it now versus months or years down the road is definitely worth paying over retail to me, particularly since I couldn't care less if it comes from an AD or TS.
