Had no problem getting one after about 3 weeks in MA. Minor spend history. They are out there.

Been on the list since September. Started some purchase history in October and plan on adding some more purchases before Christmas. My SA sounded very optimistic. Will update if anything happens.

If you have a relationship and decent purchase history with the AD then they should have one in the back. Probably have to wait for the next shipment for the cermit, but they get watches every week

Go to your AD, give them a $50,000 check and tell them “put whatever you want on it, in exchange I want the new sub”.

Getting a new Sub is no easy task but it is also not impossible... It depends on your location, AD size, and previous purchase history.
The more desirable the piece the harder to get, if I put my self in the shoes of an AD, it would be difficult for me to give a new Sub to a customer that I don't know on the expense of regular clients with good purchase history, as many customers they just want to flip it for a quick profit. Having said that it does not mean that all ADs play by the rule because I'm sure there are many who get advantage of the current situation and sell to grey dealers. The demand is so high and I don't think Rolex as of now can keep with such demand, so even if ADs have some stock they won't display it due to its scarcity, however, once they have three subs of the same model sitting in a safe then they will start displaying and offering more to new customers. Personally a watch does not make me or break me, if I can't find a Rolex model that I can buy at MSRP then I will consider other brands as there are too many good watches and maybe one day after a year or five the Rolex situation changes and things get back to normal. Also, at 12-15K, I might as well save up another year and get a Patek Calatrava for my 41st bday...then come back around and ask for the ND Sub for 42. I have no problem starting a spend history to build out a relationship, but what I don't want to do is buy things I don't want/don't need and then still be in the same relative position on the "wait list" that I am now but also be out 5-10K One of the ADs covers 5 of the 6 brands that I am interested in, I just don't want to be like some of the other posts I've seen and work up a 50K spend and still not get the primary watch I want... |

It depends on your AD and where you are at on his relationship list.

Bluesy, 4 months. Collecting today. :) At an AD in Edinburgh I was told two years minimum if at all. Just shows its worth casting your net wide.

Depends what you're prepared to buy to get it sooner rather than later

Here's my timeline for what it's worth and if it helps you
I started a new relationship with an AD in summer 2020 after I moved to a new city (meaning I stopped in, looked at things, asked good questions, made friends with the sales person.). In November 2020 I bought a Datejust 36 Blue Fluted Jubilee which the AD ordered for me and took about 6 weeks. In Jan 2021, I asked them to put me on a list for a Sub Date. I stopped thinking too much about the Sub and enjoyed my DJ completely. Over the next 8 months or so, I stopped in a couple of times and smiled and asked about the sub and they assured me I would get it but didn't know when. In Sep 2021, I bought a Cartier Santos and asked about the sub. One month later, Oct 2021, I was offered the Sub Date. It felt like an appropriate waiting time and courtship for such a coveted piece. I'm sure the purchase of the Santos got me the call for the Sub. What are you going to do, that's the way it works. I never obsessed too much over getting the Sub and just enjoyed the other pieces along the way. I will sell the DJ and keep the Santos and Sub. |

The variability in experiences in mind-boggling. I was able to pick up my 126610LV last night from the AD after a 2.5 month wait and no prior history in a major metropolitan area. I also know a guy who was able to get the same piece from the same AD within 1 week, I shit you not. So, miracles CAN happen I guess!
For folks having trouble I would suggest speaking with another AD, if possible. The first couple I visited would barely give me the time of day so it definitely pays to shop around. What also helps a TON is if the watch is for a special occasion or if there is a story behind it. Anything to help you stand out from the crowd will be beneficial in helping them remember you when something comes in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
