This is a great comparison shot, it definitely looks more proportional but maybe also bulkier.

To a slightly less extent, I had the same problem with the GMTs, still a super case. Love my 41 sub and will get a new GMT when they fix the lug problem with them. Most people don’t care and they really shouldn’t, but once I got the 41 I can’t unsee big lugs.

I think the 40 looks "more bulkier" due to the thicker lugs and thinned bracelet. You need to find a 41 and try it on, it fits beautifully because of its balance. Going by the pics it looks like you have a +/- 7-1/2" round wrist, correct?

My Wife measured it at 6.75 inches but it may not be precise. I have tried on the 41 but it always have stickers on it so you can’t size it to your wrist, making it hard to get a real life feel.

Price wise - they are asking $13,500 for a 2010 Sub without box or papers. It’s been sitting for weeks apparently. My gut instinct says I prefer the 41 over the 40.

I think the bigger lugs on the 40 give it more of a tool watch look, and don’t forget the advantage of it’s not having the problematic newer movement.

From the photos your wrist looked to be very close to my 7-1.2" round wrist. In no way, shape or form am I telling you what to do, but I would never buy a watch without the papers because if you send it to RSC and it's a stolen watch you will not get it back. This is probably the reason it's been sitting there for weeks, as well as the price.

That’s a really good point I didn’t think of. When inquired why they didn’t have the papers, the store said it was a long time customer who just lost the box and papers.

40M vs. 41M Submariner

I have the new 126610LV
I absolutely despise the nee monstrous clasp and not a fan of a 21mm bracelet
Feels like im wearing handcuffs ( i was handcuffed once… not by the police :) )

On a positive note, i do like more tapered lugs vs 116xxx series

Now, id take anything over 116xxx… that unfinished square case only a mother could love

Final thought… buy the real submariner… 14060M.. nothing in life is perfect but 14060M comes close

Which would apply to a minuscule number of watches without boxes or papers, and couldn’t that apply to watches with them? Lots of independents out there cheaper and just as good as RSC.

Here I am posting a comparison of the new (126610) and the previous (116610) version on my 19cm wrist. Both fit well, although I personally liked the previous version 116610 better.

To be precise, the visual difference is small, if we talk about wearing comfort, then my indication is the older version.

For a black watch I pick the 41 all day. For something special like the smurf or hulk, don’t care about the lugs or case they’re hard to beat

Love the HULK!

In many pictures, I could never tell the difference without looking for the crown at the 6:00 position.

Agreed. And of course it could apply to a watch with papers, but again, I wouldn't buy a 2010 Submariner w/o papers. Purchasing with papers from a trusted seller here on the forums gives you the security of knowing they're not stolen. OTOH, I can see purchasing a much older reference w/o papers, but I would also try to see if there's any public records available with a list of stolen watches.

The clasp on the 41mm is way to wide.

My opinion, I'd prefer the 40mm SD4K, way better proportions than the Subs.

I prefer the dial symmetry of the Submariner. Not too fond of the date wheel but do prefer the minute markers around the entire bezel.

40M vs. 41M Submariner

Have both.
40mm and 41mm
6,6inch wrist size.

I prefer the fit of the 40mm version - nevertheless highest comfort offers the gmt to me.

Interesting update - they received a second Sub from 2020 (still 11 series), for $13,500 and lowered the original Submariner without my request to $12,900.

I think the watches are mispriced but a 2020 Sub is an attractive consideration.

The '20 Submariner is pre-owned from an AD offering it for $13,500.00?

From a jewelry store that sells pre-owned watches but is not an authorized Rolex dealer.

This is for a 2020 40M sub not the 41M.

Yes, knew it was a 40mm just wasn't sure if it was an AD.

I tried both on. And to my surprise I liked 116610 better. After reading various comments online favouring 41, I thought I would like the 41 better but 40 looked smaller to me and the bracelet and clasp felt better proportioned.

If I were to buy in preowned market, I would without doubt and hesitation go for 116610.

I bought the 40 sub preowned. Really both are good. The price savings of the 40 was the key. The lugs are bigger on 40 but practically it’s hard to tell the difference unless ur obsessive. The 41 may be better proportioned but it is a bigger watch I think overall.

If u can get new from AD then the choice is obvious

I think the 41 gets love because its new. If I had to replace mine (I have a 40) I would get another 40.

41 sucks. The bracelet is too wide and clasp is huge

The 40 is excellent but the 41 feels better balanced with case shape and bracelet width.
