$30k drop would make it $40k and I'd be attaching a wrist pic of it to this post.

Happy Father's Day all.

My stainless steel Daytona with the gray Arabic Racing Dial (from the WG version), skinny hour and minute hands, and red subdial and chrono seconds hands.

This is a configuration that Rolex never put together, but it's my favorite!

I alternate between its original Oyster Bracelet, and custom alligator leather straps with after-market 904L steel end links.

Just a little over 5 years ago I found this Forum with the help of another member from another forum, and finally made the Daytona I'd wanted for 20 plus years a reality. TRF, what a great place!

Still my favourite watch, if there could only be one, this would be it, and I still get a thrill every time I put it on.

So, everything looks pretty sleek.

Yes, it's not a combo that Rolex intended for the SS version, and it does borrow heavily from the WG version, but it's what I like...

Opinions welcome!
Hello

I like this combination, but I’m hoping you can answer a question for me?

I like Daytonas on leather straps, but I’m not a fan of end links. If you fit the strap without the end links is there much of a gap between the strap and the case?

Thanks very much.

Haven’t posted here in a while. Will be interesting to see what happens to the current Daytona lineup if the case size changes next month, and they don’t carry the “40” mm simultaneously.
Also if no case change, and they just bring out a new anniversary dial, bezel, etc….curious to see what happens if this current anniversary model is discontinued….

I don't wear it without end links myself, but the gap is not going to be larger than any other watch. What people tend to do is use straps that are slightly padded around the spring bar area to fill the gap. See pictures below:

Thanks very much for this and the photos.

I quite like that look, I think I'll have a look for a suitable strap for one of mine.

Thanks again.

Now THAT's an adjustment! Just picked up a Platona. So I'll have to keep my powder dry on the meteorite, I'm afraid, whatever a great deal it might be.
