Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Minute Repeater

Dear all, I am writing this in the Patek forum as some of you may already know from previous discussions (and thanks to you, I have made some happy choices), I almost only purchase Pateks.

So, I came across by chance while searching for a 5110 (as you can read from my previous post), a very nice Jaeger rose gold reverso minute repeater. I sold my last rose gold grand reverso 8 days power reserve a while back as it was too big and chunky. This minute repeater is smaller, fits nicely on a standard wrist and wraps around it perfectly.

My question is, I am not 100% sure of a rectangle watch anymore but I must say that this one is exceptionally nice. It is a minute repeater! And it is being offered at a price of a brand new 5711! So, my rational side is telling me that this is an offer of a lifetime to get a minute repeater, my realistic side tells me, this is a very very difficult watch to offload in the future. Could I please have your thoughts on this?

Thank you.

Have a good weekend to all.

Exactly.
If you are going to actually wear this watch and stick with it for a while then its definitely an opportunity.
If you think you are going to want to offload it fairly quickly then this is not for you.

I would go very slow on this one. Make sure you really want it. If it were my decision, I would stay with Patek.

I really love JLC movements -considering as one of the best mvmnt manufacturer-though the olny watch design I prefer from them is the Reverso .Never seen minute repaters under 100K at least not from brands I follow so this watch is very tempting.I d say go for it.You obviously checked c24 , there are 2 for 30k.

I LOVE MRs. Big time. I also lust after Reversos. For some reason this combination doesn't do it for me.

A cheap MR doesn't quite compute for me.

I’m not a tonneau style person, and there’s nothing about the effeminate looking Reverso that I find endearing, but you’re not me.
I get where you’re coming from regarding the draw and appeal of a cheap (relative term) minute repeater, but the logical side of your mind is rightly concerned about future value and ability to offload quickly and with as little hassle as possible.

How much will it be to service, say sometime in the next few years or so?
How long will you be without it?
How often will you realistically wear it?
Once the novelty of playing with the MR slider wears off – there are only so many “ding, ting, tongs one can be amused by” – will it simply get left in the box/safe and passed over in favour of something else?

TLDR…I wouldn’t bother with it, personally.

I love the Reverso, I love minute repeaters and 1994 is my birth year so I would be all over that.

Pass. There are cheaper repeaters out there. That JLC is epic but you have to love it.
