New Rolex Daytona 116500 White - Pictures and review

Finally have one and thought I'd do a quick review for those looking to buy one. So here it is!

My new 116500 Daytona! Very lucky to have and in love with it from first sight.

The watch is like no other Daytona or Rolex that I've had on. This is nothing like a 116520- the ceramic, the improved dial and tachymeter writing has brought it forward leaps and bounds. It just works instantly. The Dial, the Bezel, case, pushers all work in perfect harmony. On the wrist it sits just right, not too big or small.

The Dial - It looks smaller than other dials as it is surrounded by a large dark bezel. The dial itself is full of features to look at . The writing, the lovely black chrono rings, the beautiful red writing. Cant fault it in any way.

The Bezel is an amazing feat of engineering. Its super thin compared to a SubC. The writing is laser sharp and much easier to read than the non ceramic version.

Other than that the rest of the watch is the same as the previous model. But it truly is greater than the sum of its parts. Bravo to Rolex for making something this beautiful.

Congrats! She's a beauty! I prefer the white face and is easy to read the bezel as you mentioned. Nice pictures too! Wear it in good health. Cheers!

Famous last words.....it is a very special piece and Rolex hit a homerun.....not enough to give up the 116520's for sure though. They co-exist quite nicely IMO. Congrats again OP on the fine watch.

Great piece - don't ask me how but I had a chance to try the black and white versions and still on the fence but white may be a bit more versatile. Wear in good health

I agree with your assessment of the dial appearing smaller. The wider ceramic bezel causes that optical illusion methinks.

I'm queued for a Black dialed 500 for that reason. Plus I think the overall "all black" presence makes it seem larger.

The Daytona never wore big on the wrist becuase of the case to dial ratio. I suppose the darker colour makes it look so even more.

I agree - almost all the models look smaller when fitted with a functional bezel (i.e., inscribed with numbers for a purpose).

To my eye, silver dialed 116520 Daytona's look larger as the case, bezel and dial blend into a visually chromatic object.

Man out here in Asia this is selling at SGD 23,000-24,000. Waiting list at the AD is just ridiculously long

Very nice - next on my list for sure (already have the ever-elusive 116520 in black NIB (or I guess we can now say NOS :)) and keeping it!).

Wear it in good health!

Great review. The 116500 sure is a huge upgrade to the Daytona in my opinion. I've yet to see one in the wild, but I have a feeling I will really love it. Thanks for sharing!
