Does this look authentic?
Good deal on CL, but I am not sure if a Random SN can start with a "T". "T" SNs were estimated to be from 1996. It does have the 8 digits as apposed to 7. ***Sorry for the blurry picture. I had to resize***

8 character random serial can start with any number or letter so no problem there. How "good" is the deal? And how do you know you will receive that watch if it is authentic? Will seller meet you for a F2F transaction? Be careful with CL, many scammers and fake watches abound. Do your due diligence!

I'd meet at a Rolex AD and pay them $100 to authenticate unless you are sure. Then drive to your bank and get the cash and make sure the SN on the watch you buy is the same as on the one you authenticated.

Like Jamie said, be careful with CL.
Not sure what the deal is, but I'd use one of the TS's here. Buy the seller.

My opinion - buy the seller. Is the seller someone you can trust? Without that it becomes something of a gamble, and with any gamble you can win or lose. Certain types of fake watches can be very convincing and difficult to differentiate from pictures, so be careful that you're not buying something that is rotten at its core. Hence the adage - you buy the seller. Sometimes a deal that is too good to be true can be exactly that.

Just pay the extra fee to have a piece of mind at AD.

Definitely be careful with CL. Make sure the watch pictured is the watch delivered. Verify authenticity through an AD if possible. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Thanks for all the warnings. My local AD will authenticate, but I do not want to go through the trouble of contacting them if the experts here on TRF could tell me it if it looks suspect. I have bought and sold several things from CL and I am always very careful. However, my CL transactions are mostly boats, cars, and motorcycles. This would be my first jewelry purchase.

There are a hundred ways to get scammed. One I recently heard about was the old switcheroo. The scammer brings a real watch and a fake to the meet. You play with the real one and verify that it is ok etc. Once it comes time to exchange money they switch it out with a good fake. So even meeting F2F or at an AD is not enough.

Looks real, but do a face to face only and in a public place or preferably at your bank where you then withdraw the funds.

Would someone that owned this watch really need to sell it on Craigslist?

I never assume to know what people need or are going through. Maybe he is a business owner and needs a quick buck. Maybe his wife just got pregnant. Perhaps, he just doesn't know about places like TRF and the resale market.

For argument's sake, I will tell you this watch is around $1500 less than the asking price of most trusted sellers here on TRF. Does that make the hassle of authentication worth it?

There are tons of ways to get scammed on craigslist. You might have found a good deal, but the odds are not in your favor. I think people tend not to share links because they are scared that someone else might rush and get it before them. |

Bad photo. Can't tell unless better photos. CL is a no no for me, so caveat emptor. You'd best be careful or you can lose big money.

From the crappy pic, I would say the watch is authentic. It has all of the right things going for it. CL is scary though, could be a stolen photo.
Post many more pictures or complete the deal at an AD.

Thanks for all the comments. I will probably pass on the watch. I love the Hulk, but it isn't the next watch on my wish list. I will just keep moving.

If buying from CL, authentication is a must. $1,500 is a nice chunk of change saved. I'd tread with caution though.

Google "Craigslist Jordans murder robbery"
Google "Craigslist Jordans murder robbery" and then decide if saving a few bucks is worth risk and hassle of meeting a Craigslister. I'm not being a smartass but no on here can authenticate via picture. Good luck

There is no such "expert" anywhere in the world that could tell from those photos
