Both look great, I have never stepped into Tudor world I feel I will one day. The bronze black bay I think it's called looks incredible

Of the two I prefer the Rolex, but they are both manufactured by the same company, so it is purely personal preference.

If too similar, add a colourful third.

They are different. I really like Tudor but Rolex is much more refined. On the other hand Tudor is a fair priced robust watch with some accurate and fine movements these days. The S&G is really appealing too.

I prefer the Tudor; for a Rolex dive watch I prefer the 116600.

Hi

I don't want to offend anyone.

I believe Tudor to be a good brand with fair price - quality balance and I would never knock anyone for buying a Tudor if that's someones budget point. But honestly, Tudor does not have the prestige imprint of Rolex. To me, most Tudors are lower budget Rolexes. Sorry. I got to say that I'm also a Newbie :) but that's just how I feel about this.

Yes.
I know, many brands are inspired by Rolex.
That's the point.
Why go with something deducted from the original if you can afford the original.
Doesn't this add to the dream of owning a Rolex ?
The large majority of other brands wouldn't give me the same sentiment of achievement...

Tudor and Rolex make some of the best watches. I was comparing the Omega SMPc and the Tudor BB and I thought, IMHO, the BB was the better watch.

I own both Rolex and Tudor. I really appreciate both... My BBN and Tudor Sub get more wrist time than my SubC. Either way you cannot go wrong.

Sure, if status is your goal. But if you want a chronograph with a rotating 12 hour bezel, Tudor Is your choice. If you want a diver larger than 40mm Tudor is your choice. If you want a watch that comes with both bracelet and strap options Tudor is your choice.
However, if status holds more value to you than anything else, enjoy the crown. Sounds like a hollow victory. Buying what you want seems much more satisfying than giving a hoot in hell what others think.

Love T for its underdog appeal priceless when ppl spot the OysterPrince and sniff "oh I thought you were wearing an R, that's not a real R...."

One big beef with the new Bays - everybody compares them face on. Sure they look like Subs from the top.

When Bronze appeared I went had a look at local ADs and checked out every Bay... bigger was way too big, smaller could live with... and then found they sat high & look really slabby from the side.

Like a big fat girder lug to lug. Chunky. Didn't gel with the top view IMHO.

Subs, even the later models, have a more pleasant side profile I find. Less glaring to the eye. Looks less like designer wanted it to be brash & gaga.

Still waiting for Bay to grow on me. Maybe it might, probably not in a while.

Both are awesome! My comfort level with the inside workings of the watch movement and quality of materials keep me with the Rolex line. Love the way the Tudor looks! Awesome!

I only recently started having a closer look at Tudor and I highly respect what they do. I don't think they deserve being called "inferior" or "poor man" Rolexes - they aren't competing in the same bracket. The ones I've seen all kick the pants off of comparable Omega and Breitlings.

Sure, it's not as prestigious as Rolex, but then you could argue Rolex is not as prestigious as AP/Patek, which are also not as prestigious as Richard Mille or Philippe Dufour. It's simply not the same apples to apples comparison, and I say buy what you like, and not what others tell you to like.

Status does not hold more value to me than anything else. But it is an argument. If you get brainwashed since your awareness of luxury watches that Rolex is a top brand and a symbol of success, then I don't see anything hollow in the victory, after striving hard for a lifetime, to be finally able to wrap a Rolex around your wrist.

I see it like an accomplishment. When I look at my Rolex I do feel very, very, very satisfied :) Couldn't care less about what others think.

You can only applaud Rolex for their marketing.

Sorry...but I never heard about someone dreaming for years of a Tudor. That's just the way it is.

Sadly, I would know it’s not a Rolex and that does matter to me.

So what's the problem? Oh I see, more expensive must mean better. Great wisdom there.

Well, there actually is great wisdom. Or, more precisely, science.

It can be attributed to Darwin's natural selection which is the instinctive behavior and ultimate goal of any living object...

I had a lady roommate who operated on the same principle. She went to get replacement light bulbs. Came back with the most expensive she could find, three way bulbs for our one way lights. Just saying that price and value don't necessarily go hand and hand. I'd say it's a foolish assumption.

Yes. I agree that price and value don't necessarily go hand in hand. But we are not talking about light bulbs. The real question here is: did you have an affair with that lady roommate ?

Not a fan of the majority of Tudors. I don’t like the snowflake hand and the writing on some of the dials is terrible.

I quite like the heritage Chrono though.

Spot on as usual Dan.

I have owned many Rolex from DJ36 to DeepSea and about everything in between. And they are all gone. The Tudor have stayed. I have flipped thru several on a quest to only buy what I will wear.

In the end buy what makes you happy. If knowing that having a watch on your wrist that everyone else will recognize and associate with a luxury item and you having status and prestige go right ahead, no matter what watch that is for you.
For me Tudor is just fine.

A wise man doesn't answer that question. Since neither of us were married at the time it wouldn't have been an affair, AFAIK.
