Grand Seiko Incoming
Just received a Grand Seiko today, SBGW235. My first GS. Long time Rolex guy but got frustrated with the current situation. Was looking at something to complement my Rolex and Omega sport watches with something simple and smaller. Was looking at the Rolex Oyster perpetual but was not ready to wait years or pay the gray market prices. Found the SBGW235 and fell in love with it. It had the basic look on a stainless bracelet that I could easily swap with a leather band (similar to the SGBW231) and the size I was looking for (37.5mm) with the quality of a Grand Seiko. Unfortunately this watch is only sold in Japan which made it a challenge to find. Fortunately I found a great AD in Tokyo for a reasonable price that helped me navigate the customs and duties of buying overseas. The watch arrived in 5 days - with a customs delay - and I love it.

Wonderful choice, though I’m biased. Mine came from an AD in western Japan in 2016. Most comfortable bracelet I’ve worn. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Beautiful. I've considered one of these myself and it may be a future replacement for my SARX. Congrats!

The bracelet is one of the most comfortable I own and I also love the fact that it is a manual wind with a 72 hour reserve. This is a classic piece.

Whineboy - How different was the watch in 2016? I see the logo has changed slightly. Does it have the see-through back? How about the movement?

If I recall, the predecessor to the W235 was the W005, which had the older 9S54 movement. It's a marvelous watch, so balanced, restrained and comfortable. I think you made a marvelous choice. |

I love this piece. I have the earlier SBGW005. The difference on the dial is that the Grand Seiko logo is applied rather than printed.
