Two Aquanauts collection - What will it be?
I am planning to build a two Aquanaut collection and would like to see what is your dream collection if you are only allowed two. And what is your reason(s) for the selection?
I have an incoming 5167a so I am mainly trying to see what is the perfect complement to the base model. TIA |

My favorite is the 5968A. Large but doable on my 6.6 inch wrists when I tried it on. Prefer it over both 5968G. Not sure I really want it though as (1) the movement seems to have been less than bullet proof and (2) cheaper tool watches make more sense for when I have use for a chrono.
5167A left me unimpressed when I tried it on back when it was cheap. 5167R can be loud IRL depending on your skin tone and 5168G is very large for how flat it is. Maybe I should give 5167A another chance but would I really want another 315/324 movement watch? 5164A and R have no added value for me as travel time math runs between my ears. Also not a big fan of how the left-side pushers change the overall look of the Aquanaut. I guess I am in the minority but there you have it... |

5167r + 5164a would be my choice.
Covers both formal and casual occasions IMO. |

If you already have the 5167/a on order, I would add a 5164/a, I am not a big fan of sports watches in soft 18k gold.

The 5164 is my first choice because it’s the most useful complication and the ultimate travel watch.

if you have the 5167a coming then 5968g would be a nice second watch
perhaps the green one to have some contrast with your allocated 5167

Any of the 5968 would be a great pair to have.

Since you will have one in steel with a black rubber strap, I'd say a 5164R or 5968 (any) IF you can get one.

Thanks for all the response. I was leaning to a 5968a but after all the feedbacks, I may take a closer look at the 5164a. Not sure if I want any of the PMs though as the Aquanaut should stay "low end" IMHO

Why? They’re all very homogenous

IMO, you should get the most colorful Aquanauts if you are adding to this model line. This is supposedly the most casual and youthful model line. I will add those with "un-patek" colors, like green, orange or the brighter blue.

This is exactly why I was drawn to the 5968a. Somehow I am drawn to the bright orange. (Bought a bright blue ROO during the pandemic as my happy watch, and the orange also makes me happy) |

Add some color. The 5968a or g would be cool. That way you can mix up the look and have a complication. Also, a rose gold would work too. I personally love the 5164, but you’ll end up with 2 pure black aquanauts. If I had those two I’d end up selling the one you have and keeping the 5164. Best of luck. I have a 5968a coming soon. Can’t wait for the orange!
