Where are the new Explorer 2’s?

Is it me or have there barely been any incomings of the new Explorer 2’s? I would love to see some pictures on the wrist.

Nothing seems to be out there!

Even the OP colours that were launched 1 year ago!

You need to look closer and investigate to spot differences even for those that are into watches.

Not many. I had the “prior” model and am still completely disappointed Rolex phoned in the anniversary model. Could’ve been something really special.

Where are the new Explorer 2’s?

Mine is on my wrist right now …..

It was being checked for good timekeeping ……. It passed with flying colours.

I wanted to get a choice of Black or white so I had a Sub Date (126610) so I decided an Explorer II (226570) was the way to go.

The Orange 24 hour hand on the EXP II just tops the watch off perfectly.

Congrats on a great piece! Can you tell us if the white dial is glossy lacquer white or matte white? One of the most significant changes they made to the black, imo, was going from a matte to a glossy black dial.

The Dial is GLOSS.

It is now enamel which is naturally gloss.

It does look great ... Better than matt i think.

Thanks a lot for the picture. The white is really tricky to tell from photos, sometimes it looks glossy, sometimes matte. As I haven't been able to handle one in person, I'm struggling to determine which it is. Would love to hear your first hand opinion.

Its Glossy.
Its Enamel.
Its VERY white.
And that is what makes it even better looking than the previous models apart from the very rare and expensive Porcelain dial version which wasnt porcelain anyway.

As soon as I saw the white dial it was a done deal ... I could have chosen a black or white.

The white dial IMHO is a lighter looking watch and a nice change from wearing watches that always look sporty. This looks sporty but somehow smarter at the same time.

Excellent shots! Thank you. To my eyes, it is clear the lugs are thinner and the hour markers are now matte. Both improvements to me.

The old discontinued Polar explorer had the black glossy lacquer hands and indices, while the new is matte PVD. There is no change on the white dial between the old and new Explorer II, they are both glossy, enamel, and very white as you put it. This may make the discontinued Polar Explorer 216570 a collectable reference in the future as it also has the 3187 movement which is solely designed for the 216510. The new Explorer II shares the 3285 moment with the new GMT II.

16570 black owner here.

Personally don't care for the larger size but admire the fatter minute hand. Much better "Lume"

I preferred the floating hands of the discontinued black model. The Polar looks identical, at least in photos. Prices of the old models are at stupid levels, which I suppose reflects the limited numbers so far released.

Ya the Polar looks identical, but the discontinued may develop some patina because of the black lacquer on hands and indices.

Personally I had a 216570 and sold it. Some of the updates the 226570 have are things that bugged me on the previous model.

I like both of course, but prefer the black dial. On the 216570 it always bugged me the matte dial how it did not match up with the gloss on the ghost hands. It wasn’t major, but that just never sat too well with me. Second part is the lugs weren’t overly large, but as someone who’s primarily a 5 digit guy they were a little on the big side for me, where as they look slightly more tapered down on this newer model.

Although the changes weren’t huge they addressed a lot of what caused me to never completely bond with my 216570.

Hoping to add a 226570 one day before long. If that doesn’t sit well I guess to the 16570 polar. I’ve always liked the Explorer II I just have to figure out the right one.

I have not seen the 226570s yet so cannot appreciate any changes just from pictures. I'm still quite content with my black dial 216570 so have no plans to pursue the new models anyway. I'm especially happy with having the discontinued phantom hands and have greater confidence in the 3187 movement for now, until the newer movement proves itself. I went down that road with the 3235 in a DJ41.

Oddly enough, it's the new GMT oysters that are being delivered.

All the other new releases are mostly MIA.

One thing I like about the new Ex2, is the removal of the phantom hands on the black dial. I know this was a throwback to the 1655, but I much prefer the full white gold hands on the 22 series.

I was deciding quite a while between Sub date and Exp II. The orange GMT hand and contrasting black dial with date swayed me. It does not wear big for a 42mm, comfortable and easy wear. Non-floating hands seem to match up well with SS bezel and case. Nice change-up from a Sub
