YMII - Blue hands or White?
Just curious, does anyone know the reasoning behind changing the hands on the Yacht Master II from Blue hands to white? Are blue hand versions more or less desirable? Beautiful watch either way, just curious what led to the change.

I have no idea. Nor about desirability.
I just know if I owned it, it would be with blue hands. But then again, I like to be able to tell the time on my watch. |

The blue was dropped to improve legibility. Neither appears "more desirable" however that might be measured. I have had both versions. They are equally illegible.
It is also my favorite Rolex I have owned, and still do. |

I have the WG white hands version (the first). I haven’t experienced an issue with legibility. Which watch is likely to be the most sought after following an eventual discontinuation? I have no idea, but if history is our guide it’s usually the very first series that gets the most accolades. Will this transpire with the YM II, absolutely no idea.
I’m biased, but I find the Mercedes hand contemporary piece a little too busy with those hands.

I have had no problem telling the time on either style. The Daytona is one of the "busiest" watches Rolex has ever produced but folks hardly ever complain about reading the time on them. Seems that most folks, when they don't like something, love picking it apart. The YMII is a beautiful watch and that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Thanks gang, looking to get one in the next year. I hadn’t really thought about the hand color contrasting with the dial. Makes sense. I think I too may prefer the blue hands after all. I’d be happy with either.

I personally prefer the blued steel hands.

I have the newer yacht master 2 white hand version. I have several modern Rolex watches and this is my favorite! I find it easily readable.

The dial is also upgraded as well as the the newer hands. The larger hands also hold more lume for night viewing.
