The Subtle Differences Within the 15400 Lineage

My OCD kicked in last while I was looking at my 15400 I bought last month and began researching the 15400 myself.

I tried searching through the forums and couldn't seem to locate a thread referencing the subtle differences and changes even within the 15400 lineage.

Thought I would share and see what you guys think. If you guys have more to add, let me know as well.

*Apologise in advance as these are not my images or pictures, but these seem to highlight the watches and subtleties quite well. As well, nor do I own two 15400 side by side to compare.

From my research the blend of changes appears late H Series and I Series. Final changes are complete in the I Series in 2015. I'm not an expert by any means and the subtle changes may be around this date rate (give or take).

Mine is a 2015 I Series and seems to incorporate all the new changes. Sold in July 2015.

Dial - AP Logo

After/during 2015 - I Series - "Fatter" AP Logo, P is wider and space between the A and P is wider, less distinctive notch on the A


Pre/during 2015 - H/I Series - "Skinnier" AP Logo, P is flatter and space between the A and P is narrower, more distinctive notch on the A



Movement Serial Number

After/during 2015 - I Series - Silver Numbering/Etched on Movement Serial Number on the Main Plate under the Balance Wheel


Pre/during 2015 - H/I Series - Gold Numbering on Movement Serial Number on the Main Plate under the Balance Wheel



Deployment Clasp

After/during 2015 - I Series - No Screws - No AP logo on the Clasp, just Text.




Pre/during 2015 - H/I Series - Screws - AP logo on the Clasp and Text





Box and Papers

After/during 2015 - I Series - Green Wooden Piano Finish Box, Black Cushion, "Modern" Papers


Pre 2015 - H/I Series - Brown Wooden Box, Beige Cushion, Different Papers

Are you sure those are both 15400 pictures? The second picture might be a 15450 - you can see the 3 hour marker is significntly shorter in comparison.

Thanks for this post! It was incredibly useful when doing my research on the 15400st RO.

Seems like the "older" model of the RO with the thinner AP logo on the dial is unique to this batch of RO.

Produced from 2012 to 2015 - about 4 years of production because they standardized it to the "fatter" logo.

Might be wrong but I don't think any other RO has that distinctively "thinner" AP logo on the dial other than this batch of 15400st.

This is weird. I’m about to buy a 15400 H series but it doesnt have screws on the clasp. Any ideas why? It is a 2013 model.
