sorry for the image quality, my camera is pretty old. Here's the non-date sub compared to the small version planet ocean.

Yes!!!!! I saw the weight posted elsewhere for the 45.5mm bigger version at a whopping 222 grams. That's almost double the Sub

I'm very glad I didn't get the big one. It looked a bit too trendy and clunky on the wrist, and I don't think my wrists are that small (i think my left wrist is about 7 inches).

My wife really liked the Panny on me, the Titanium one with brown leather strap and simple face. I forget the actual model. It actually looked aesthetically correct on my wrist compared to the big omega, which looked more like a supersized McDonalds frys.

But, she thinks that the Panerai trend will go away in a few years, and in 10 or 20 years, I would still be wearing a TT Rolex Sub.

JJ, obviously you sold the Omega, how was it though as far as accuracy and quality?

Wow, the guts in that watch look beefy! How often are those supposed to be serviced?

Accuracy? Excellent. Comfort? A bit too heavy, especially in Summer when the hefty bracelet sticks to the skin and starts to pull the hair. Wearer comfort on that watch was just 6/10, but overall a nice looking monster!

....from Panerai's website....
'The movement
Have the movement of your watch checked periodically by an Authorized Panerai Service Centre so as to preserve its perfect operation.
If the watch has a tendency to gain or lose time to a significant degree, the movement may need to be overhauled.
The movements are designed to withstand temperature variations between -10°C and + 60°C (14°F and 140°F). Outside this range of temperatures, operational variations exceeding those set out in the specifications of the movement may be noticed. In addition, there is a risk that the lubricants contained in the movement may deteriorate, resulting in damage to some of its parts.'

I don't know about Panerai's going out of style, they have been around for a while, with a large amount of history. The size of the watch feels right because of the simplicity of the dials, where as the Omegas have alot more going on.

The TI model you were looking at is either a PAM 176, or a PAM 177 if it had a second hand. The weight on those models are incredible for a 44M watch.

But I think those two watches are on other ends of the spectrum, TT Sub with blue dial, I think completely stands out, and would give you something completely different from the black dial sub you already own.

I was actually just wondering why I got the PO! They are both great watches, but I think I'm going to turn out to be a Rolex Guy. Maybe the only thing better than one rolexes is multiple rolexes. The 14060M, a red/black GMT or Sea Dweller, and a TT GMT or Sub. Those would make a good 3!

Nearly got a P.O. Not slamming the P.O., but I'm glad I got the 14060M.

Thanks for the pics.

This is the heaviest watch I have the Dreadnought the Head 140 g with bracelet 265g. Cost when new from timefactors £450-$720 limited addition 200 all sold, and rated to 500m top spec ETA 2824-T2 tested to the German din standard.A tougher test than the Swiss COSC,each watch timed by Master Watchmaker Dirk Dornbluth, with certificate for each watch for Chronometer accuracy. Now I have seen these watches selling second hand for in of excess of $1500 £790 and some have been sold for over $2000 £1053.

Great picture Morgman a big fan of the PO both black and orange.

Don't know about "down South" where Paulie lives, but here it has been -35C (not counting the wind chill factor).

Well, we get that hot here too!

I took that August 1 this year. I think that day the Humidex (combination of temperature and relative humidity) was making it "feel" like +46C.
