what exactly is included in service

what i mean is when you take your car for a service all filters and lubricants are included
but if it needs any parts they are charged for seperatley,

so what do we get in say a sub service for the money?

The watch will be repaired with all the standards in mind.
Meaning, every part that's not in perfect condition will be replaced.
The service includes the mainspring, always, and of course the lubrication, gaskets and polish of case and bracelet.

Sometimes I'll charge more for "extra parts" but ONLY if I noticed BEFORE I do the work, and I will include it with the initial estimate. If I notice a broken expensive part in need of replacement after the (lower) estimate was approved, I'll take the cost and make a loss, or break even if I'm lucky!
It's the same as if you send your watch to RSC, they don't charge more than the first estimate either.

I'm pretty sure you get a new crown and stem assembly as well - standard with every service 'cause there is a gasket inside the crown and that gasket presses itself onto the top of the case opening to waterproof the watch.

That gasket inside the crown is part and parcel of the crown and cannot be replaced separately - hence a new crown with the service.

The watch is completely disassembled, then all parts are cleaned and inspected. Any parts not within original specs are replaced, and the movement is reassembled and lubricated. Its then timed to ensure accuracy. In the meantime the case and bracelet are refinished, and Rolex produces some extraordinary results there. What you get back is a virtually new watch.

i know it comes back like new but wondered what was included and also does it get more expensive for a service when its older?

like with a car at around 60,000 miles the service can normaly include a timeing belt in the price and for say a 24000 mile service its £150 more than a 12000 service

so when its in for its 10/20 year service is it a more expensive service without parts?

Generally, only acrylic glasses are included in a service, as as they age they lose their elasticity and therefore makes it difficult to make the watch water resistant again.

Sapphire crystals can indeed be replaced during a service, but that is a bill-able extra. It is useful to note that if a crystal is so badly damaged that it warrants replacing, and you (the customer) do not wish to pay for it (it can be quite pricey) most competent watchmakers will refuse the job. If we cannot guarantee the work, we wont do it.
