Opinions on the condition of this explorer ii please

Hi all,

this is my second post on here and again it relates to my hunt for a 16570 polar. I’ve put down a deposit on this watch and am planning on collecting it this weekend.

I requested a few extra shots from the retailer today, having seen them I’m questioning my choice!

I’d appreciate if some of the experts on this forum could share their opinion on this case. Has it been over-polished?

Questioning your choice is very acceptable. You are buying a second hand watch.

No one can not tell much with this photos.

You need zoomed or magnified photos from several angles under natural day light in order to make a conclusion about the dial / markers / hands and crystal.

To answer your question, yes it looks polished. I can not see the crown logo on the crown. Dont know why?

Overpolished bezel for sure.

Here’s one from another angle. I’m very inexperienced but the lugs look more rounded than most other examples. Thoughts?

Other than seeing alot of finger prints, I don't see anything that would bother me. It's certainly used but it's not beat up, at least to my eye. If the polishing bothers you, you can always get it re-polished. If you didn't want it polished at all, well then that could be a problem.

Bezel looks very soft.
Inside of lugs look rounded.
Not sure if over polished or poorly polished.
Only you can determine if it’s ok for you, but I’d stay away. Plenty explorers out there, the right one will come.

I'd give it a 7. For the right price.

One thing not shown that I would be interested in is the bracelet stretch. That one looks like it could have some play in it. Otherwise, agree that the case sides have seen some polish.
I actually want one of these and for me personally, I'd be a buyer in the low 5k range. Closer to 6k, I'd be looking for another example.

Bezel is either really worn or has been polished. It’s very hard to properly polish the explorer II bezel. Rolex tend to prefer replacing them at service. Lugs look rounded off as well. Think the hour and minute hand have been replaced. Look newer to me than the rest of the lume on the watch.

It's a tad over-polished for my liking. Would pass on this specific one as it's a reference that can be had in better condition without having to search high and low.

Agree, the lug holes look a bit soft and it’s hard to see if the bezel still has the sunburst lines radiating out. Here are a couple of pics of mine. Cost less than £4K a year ago. Good examples are still out there for a good price.

Hard to see and a tough call but it does look iffy. If i had to choose by the pics I'd play it safe and pass. If the seller has a no hassle return policy, althought its always a hassle wait and judge for yourself. If your going to see it in person, no problem, worth a look. the Expll doesn't have very pronounced chamfers but the case sides should still feel sharp on the edges and around the lug holes.

Thanks for the responses guys.

Jona your’s looks so sharp, I wish there were still examples like that available at that price!

Here’s a photo of the bracelet. To me it looks very stretched for an oyster? would welcome more opinions!

Comfy I'd call it. If you're going to wear it and not keep it in a safe I'd say it's fine. The bezel has all the paint in it so it hasn't been hit with the jooltool.

Wait save up and buy a better example. Sounds like you're settling for this watch because of the low cost. You won't be happy with it.

You've expressed a doubt. Which means there is no doubt. It doesn't matter if somebody else would buy it or pass. You are asking to be convinced that it's OK to buy. This means that you are not convinced. Trust your gut.

(I wouldn't buy this example, but that's just me).

Over polished, I would walk away from it - they are not that hard to source.

What was the seller asking? Bracelet looks ok, but depending on the money I'm sure you could find a better example.
