I'd stay with what you have.
If it were a modern 126710 BLRO I'd say go for it. |

Does it have to be either or? I’d have a hard time letting go of the SD43, and would try to add the right GMT to the lineup without parting with such a great diver.

But I’d trade you my full set 16710!

If the bracelet was better and the watch was unmolested (i.e., lume, dial, bezel, steel surface all original), then yes, I'd rush to take that deal.
This one, unfortunately, doesn't look 100% original.

I love GMT’s especially the 4/5 digit variety. But, maybe it’s just me but I can’t bring myself to wear someone else’s watch. It’s like wearing someone’s boots. I have always bought new and worn my watches well, so they get associated with my memories. I have an issue with wearing a watch that has already lived a life. For me a watch is a very personal thing and my watch, keys, and wallet are the 3 things I have on me at all times (sorry I don’t consider my phone essential-I got along fine without them in the 1980’s). So for you To trade a watch wit some meaning for a watch without that meaning is not the best choice in my opinion. Likewise, for me wearing a Rolex means never having to worry. With vintage it will be much worry about the heartiness, water resistance, and associated hidden costs of vintage ad other have pointed out.
What many people crave in the vintage watch is the look of a vintage watch, but they could never imagine wearing their watches the way the old timers used to-which is how they get that patina anyway. My advice, keep your watch, wear the hell out of it, and it will be vintage soon enough as the days are long but the years short. |

No way. That 1675 would need so much work and, besides, it will never be made up to specs to be a daily driver.

No way, nor would I trade for a 16710 (disclaimer I did the opposite and traded a 16710 for my SD43). You will miss all the modern advancements of the SD like the ceramic bezel and FAR superior bracelet.

The 1675 needs some work! After that, it could be a great watch!

I think it comes down to the quality of the 1675. The one in the picture showed seems it regulars a lot of work. On that basis I would pass.
However, if a decent example of a 1675 came along. The 1675 would be hard to beat like most 4-digit sport Rolex's from that era. |

Not for that piece. Then again, if it was a time warped piece in immaculate condition then YES. My rationale being that I could always pick up a SD43 again later but probably not the immaculate 1675.
