Tudor GMT date wheel issue questions

Hello all

I posted some Tudor GMT Related questions on watchuseek, I thought I'd try them here too because the forum traffic seems higher. I did get a good response on WUS.

So reading through old threads on the topic I've noticed the following, are any of these statements wrong?

1 The date can skip forward days/half days at date change over time
2 You don't get the issue when using the crown
3 Some movements never get the issue
4 The flaw does not damage the movement
5 If the date is wrong you can correct it via the crown
6 The date will stay correct until the next date change

Also.. If the date is stuck between dates, can using the crown still correct the date?

Just getting my facts right before a potential purchase

4. I am not a watchmaker so not 100% sure. IMO this would constitute an already flawed movement to begin with.

6. Yes, but sometimes it can work correctly for several days and then happen again. I never had mine start to change the date mid day if that's what you are asking.

I sent mine in for repair in late July of 2018 and it has been working flawlessly since then. It keeps the most accurate time of any of my watches as well.

The vast majority of movements never get the issue, and the newer the purchase the less likely you are to have a problem. Yes it is still possible but very unlikely. If you do have a problem send it in under warranty. I would not let the slight chance of this issue prevent me from buying this watch. I'm nearly a year and a half into mine with no problems.

People who have had a problem with it are a lot more likely to post on social media and forums than regular people who have a watch and enjoy it. Human nature.
