something opposite of the Exp 1
Yeah, I agree, A nice DateJust with a fluted bezel and jubilee with a light light would be the next logical choice. It is dressy, but still a stainless watch.
Used late production 16234's are a good buy vs new 36mm versions which have gotten pretty pricey. You could always do a white gold Daydate. depends on the budget. |

I have a DJ and I`m thinking of adding an Explorer. So that would be my choice.

I also have a exp1 mk2, added a YM 16622, a BB58, and next would be a no date sub or BLNR
Great choices and options are throughout this thread, best of luck !!! |

Funnily enough I did have an old 1803 DD but the all yellow gold look was not for me. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My Explorer 1 is complimented with my white dial Daytona C. Gives a different design and look to the collection.
Imo, the OP and DJ is a bit too similar even the dial color has changed. |

I would add some dial color with a Hulk, Polar Explorer II or a DJ.

Any rolex would complement the exp1. What you have in mind makes sense. Either of them.
I would just like to compliment you on the proper use of complementary. :) Then later add a third (or more) rolex to supplement your pair. |

Funny you should ask. I have a 36mm Datejust, and have always wondered what would be the best second Rolex to compliment it, and I keep coming back to an Explorer I.

You’re right on IMO. A DJ or OP is a great complimentary piece whether you wand a date. I traded my date Sub for a no-date Sub and I’m now I’m only looking at no-date watches. Part of this is o have about ten watches in rotation and it’s easier to just set the time than update the dates, LOL. I’ve always thought the white OP would be a good counter to a black dial Sub/Explorer. Happy hunting! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

For me, the Explorer I 36mm is my first Rolex, then came the GMT 16710 to compliment the Explorer. Still black dial but with Pepsi bezel to add more color.
