1989 16700
No box or papers, local seller. 1989 16700 . I havn't seen it in the flesh yet but from the photos does anything look like replacement parts? I know it's seen a polish but im just looking for anything that stands out as replacement and would you say the bezels are naturally faded? Seller is asking 8.5 USD. Thanks in advance.

What did the seller tell you when you brought these questions up with him?
The faded pepsi is much later than 1989.

He said to the best of his knowledge the hands and dial are original,Bezels aren’t which isn’t a shock because they got swapped in and out over the years on a lot of gmt’s. He also said service history is unknown.

Having two fairly faded bezels (Pepsi & Coke) within 30 years seems Unusual.

It's a 30 year old watch and has been overhauled for sale.
Seems to be in decent shape, but no real telling if the parts are "original". I would say, since the insert on it is later, and the 16700 never came with a black/red insert, which is included, there is no telling what has been changed. Does it really matter to you?

Keep in mind that the 16700 has been produced from 1988 to 1999 only with Pepsi Bezel, so the black and the Coke are not cove with the watch.
It look to me a decent GMT, nice project to buy and start looking for the correct bezel, that shouldn’t be expensive. If the prince is ok, I would go for it, if you sell the bezels you can make 1000/1200 USD.

I think the OP's watch looks like a nice example, and I certainly wouldn't consider it a "project." The red/blue bezel insert currently on the watch is "correct," just not the one that was on the watch when it originally left the Rolex factory, which wouldn't bother me. Whether the fade is natural or not is another issue. Looks good, but there are GMT insert experts here who might have other opinions. |

Personally I dont like the lume plots on it - i cant quite explain it, but not seen this on any 16700 before
I’d also ask for a full movement shot - when i only see a photo with half the movement in it, it triggers my suspicions Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

How they look darker in the middle. I saw that. Lunar oyster has a honest looking 16700 or 710 that I liked. You may want to check it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Get a UV/blacklight photo of the dial/hands. That could answer any questions about the tritium.
This watch is about 30 years old _ three decades! The tritium texture and look doesn't stay perfect forever. There's an aging process, and I don't see anything in those photos that makes the tritium look suspicious, although I'd want to see better photos in natural light and a UV shot. |

Thanks for all the help, i ended up seeing the watch in person and made an offer based on what i thought was there, condition was decent but was in dire need of a service and i took into consideration the concerns of the dial/hands. Seller wasnt interested in negotiating so i passed.
