1680 Submariner Date used in Ralph Lauren Ad

When I was in Puerto Rico last week, I was thumbing through the tourist magazine, "Que Pasa," when I stumbled upon this ad for Ralph Lauren. The model is wearing what appears to be a 1680 Submariner Date, with riveted bracelet. What's interesting is that the Rolex crown, "ROLEX," and "OYSTER PERPETUAL DATE" were blurred out in the advertisement but the text on the lower portion of the dial was intact. IMO, the advertisement looked more like a Rolex ad than one for Ralph Lauren, but I can't deny the sharp look.

yes you are right about the rolex in the add.i had noticed that add
and also figured it out.i think it atracts more attention to the watch than
the shirt...

There were some posts a while back on TZ that Ralph Lauren dresses their manequins with fake Rolex's in their retail stores. I think I also rememeber reading that Ralph Lauren also wears a Rolex?

I noticed that too - I can't quite figure it out - the crown IS pointing towards the wrist so it should be on the left wrist...

Regardless of the actual watch and the cheeky way they didnt even acknowledge that it is a rolex, having a stained shirt in an AD is unforgivable imo.

Is a Factory Store like a Factory Outlet ??
All the shirts are stained or damaged, which is why they are cheaper

Ralph won't be having any Rolex watches in any of his ads now. He partnered with some major manufacturers and now has his own line. They are more traditional in style, but prices quickly rise to $68k.

When models wear watches they wear them like that so that the reader can see the watch very clearly. I have seen it very often.
