Omega Seamaster clasp repair help

Hi,

Wanted some advice regarding Omega repair.

I have an Omega Seamaster Coaxial - off late the clasp does not close as both the side buttons are depressed inside. Possible cause is that the inside spring is broken.

Called the boutique and they said they only sell the complete clasp.

Then I called the Swatch service at Secuacus NJ and they told me that they would need to examine the watch completely and do whatever is necessary. I definitely was in no mood to get serviced so I asked them that I knew the spring in the clasp needed replacement and thats the only thing i wanted to be done. The advisor suggested that i should talk to the spare part dept and order it - could then get it installed at my local watchmaker.
So I was transferred but the line got disconnected - as the wait times are 25+ minutes, was in no mood to call again.

Next day I happened to be in Secaucus so visited them - now I get told that they do not carry the spring separately - I would need to buy the complete clasp.
Wow, now I am even more confused of what is to be done.

I tied looking on ebay but there are springs available from 11 to 120 usd so not sure which is the right one.

Also I saw some videos on spring replacement on the net but all those clasp inside look different from mine (and are 8-10 years old, my watch is 5 yr old). I believe somewhere down the line omega changed them.

Have you tried giving it a clean?

Yes, any chance you can put the buckle in an ultrasonic cleaner? Or blow a jet of steam into that hole with your espresso machine ?

Edit: I took a look at my clasp and there are just 4 screws of the same type as the bracelet holding the clasp together. If cleaning doesn't help I'd dig in.

Worst case scenario, a replacement clasp probably isn't that expensive. The entire bracelet with clasp is in the $750 range at boutique.

Looks very gummed up from dirt. As others have said, ultrasonic cleaner, and if you don't have access to that hot water, dawn and an old toothbrush.

Yes, Gummed up most likely. Take it apart and give it a good scrub. Should do the trick!
