Back on AP Train - Millenary 4101
Picked this up recently. I thought I would put together a quick review of my thoughts on it so far. Am not a pro blogger and work uses all my brain power so enjoy the bullet points :)
-Basically, I am a sucker for any open-heart watch like the Millenary, Breguet Tradition, etc… so this was right up my alley. I always give watches bonus points for being quirky…and the Millenary delivers. -The case is a huge step up from some of the other watches I have owed, especially the lugs. Much more interesting than what you would get from Lange or Breguet for example. -Finishing is good, especially with how light plays off the applied numerals + hand. It looks great! With that said, I think both AP and Patek are a step below some of the others in this price range when comparing new prices. Again, not bad, I think it’s a big missed opportunity with this watch. Given I bought it used, it’s not a huge deal since the Millenary is nicely discounted off new prices. I would never buy another Royal Oak though as I don’t think there’s much watch for the money there. -It wears smaller than something like Panerai, maybe like a 42mm or 43mm watch? The oval shape means it won’t bang against anything which is better than a chunky round watch. It looks totally reasonable on my wrist. -Folding clasp and strap are both comfy, no complaints but I haven’t really found many watches to be uncomfortable. -The rotor is beautiful, definitely one of my favorites. -This watch does not make the mistake many skeletonized watches do which is accidentally becoming an arm hair showcase. It was one of my main worries buying this piece and it completely sidestepped that. Other than that, enjoy the pics! I used too much lightroom smoothening so you may notice some artifacts but this was just an iPhone so didn’t have much to work with. |

Really lovely watch. Have always liked these. Got a pic further away? Would like to see the shape on wrist.

Wow that's really nice. Its kinda sad how the newer millenarys are all frosted gold. Its like AP doesnt want to sell their millenary collection.

I own this AP, it is the most incredible watch pre owned - so much watch for the money. Regarding finishing, I don’t think it gets much better unless you go independents. The rotor is one of the best and finishing of all the parts: perlage, anglange and cote de geneves is flawless. A hidden gem of a piece! Looks like a £100k watch!

Seems like it is a ladies only line now which is a real shame as it is a very unique piece to be enjoyed by all. It is the standout watch in my collection and will hopefully be a keeper

I’ve mulled over this piece for a year and just picked one up - absolutely wonderful piece! It’s the perfect Friday night dinner watch

Really cool watch. I feel like the Millenary line was ahead of its time. To be honest, I'd take a Millenary over a Code all day every day.

Millenary look so good, such an interesting piece and not just due to case shape. A real standout and rarely seen in the wild. Enjoy!
