There are literally hundreds of these watches brand new out there.

If it was a 20 - 30% premium I’d consider it, but judging off of chrono24, it looks like 100%. What’s the grey pricing like, similar?

Start now and you may have a nice 40th birthday present. Good luck. 40 is the new 30 anyway.

I'm a little fuzzy on the whole Rolex/AD availability. I was at the Tourneau at Bryant Park yesterday afternoon checking out their collection. In walks a guy in gym clothes wanting to check out their GMT's. He picks one out, says he wants it, and drops cash on the "tray". Walked out with a brand new GMT.

Interesting. I was under the impression that cases were practically empty, especially for a model like that. What else did they have?

It was a very quick glance because I was eyeing a pre-owned SD, but they definitely had DJ's, GMT's and Sub's. Not sure if they had an SD on display.

I never made the trip, but I'd be willing to bet that the Tourneau on Madison would have the same...

if it was a gold/two tone it makes sense, there's no way a batman or pepsi would have been in the case

I’m even interested to see what they have on display over the weekend, because they get a ton of foot traffic and people seem to have a lot of cash to burn.

I'm curious to find out what you see this weekend. That shop gets a ton of foot traffic and it seems that people have a lot of cash to burn.

+1 and frankly I'd be absolutely shocked if a TT CHNR was in the case. Perhaps the watch was from their pre-owned inventory?

The odds of seeing a new BLNR or BLRO in an AD case for sale would be approximately the same as seeing a leprechaun riding a reindeer down 5th Avenue.

I'm on the hunt for a 41mm Sub for my 40th...stopped by WOS in SoHo on a lark and was told point blank "a Rolex will never be a customers first or second purchase with us" so I thanked them for there time and left in short order

They have pre-owned display cases there.

Tourneau sells preowned, so might be the case here. I was in the NYC Tourneau recently and they had nothing.

I would definitely recommend chatting someone up in all the ADs.

I can't remember which Tourneau it was that I dropped in to, but the SA mentioned that he could make a sub happen, I just needed to be able to get there on the same day that he calls me.

Good Luck!

Though I heard many members are annoyed by the games you have to play with ADs, I think having an AD that you have a good relationship is really important. I got mine in about 4 months after showing strong interest. But then I had purchased multiple pieces from them in the past.

nah, bday is in 18 months and started to 'register interest' at a few local ADs about 4-5 months ago.

long story short, I bought my 16710 pepsi 20 years ago and never looked back, so this sub would be watch #2...not sure how its all going to pan out with this market and not having a book of business with a particular store but I figured I'd give it a shot

Rolex is so popular that every AD can and maybe should do this. It'd separate the watch enthusiasts from the watch speculators. I love the Rolex brand, but have also moved to Panerai and Tudor, and in the market for an AP too. I'm really looking forward to getting a specific Breitling as well next year.

Update: went all around NYC and the consensus was that that the 126610LV is practically impossible to get within a year. Black sub is more probable.

They have been the most honest AD with me in NYC, at this location. Very great communication, honest about inventory and what they could and couldn’t deliver. No playing games. Offered to order pieces they could order. Just A+ service from a large chain, which cannot be said about one of their competitors in NYC.

Not surprised

But surprised that even black sub is listed as probable
