A colleague had a two tone Submariner on when I visited his office back in 1986.

Ever since, I wanted a Submariner, but I couldn't get over the high price of $2200 when I looked at them at an airport.

Every time I looked at them, the price was higher. I got less interested, till 2017 when I finally decided to get a 116610LN from a grey dealer at the ridiculous price of $7550, about $1k off of MSRP. A GMT II was about $9k at the time.

As it turned out, that was during a lull in demand, and it was a "bargain".

It's been my EDC watch since, and will be given to one of my sons when the time is right.

The first Rolex that really got my attention actually was the Milgauss, specifically the blue/green dial one. I just loved the color and the lightning bolt secondhand. It feels like the black sheep of the Rolex family - the least Rolex-y Rolex. I work as an engineer so I like the technical/science vibe to the watch. It's been a regular part of my rotation ever since getting it.
