help with rolex 1665
Hi Everyone,
any one can give me info about this one, serial is from 3365xx Does anything seem off about it relative to what its original parts should be? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. |

I would ask for better photos of the dial, insert, case, lugs, crown guards, engravings, caseback ... including UV pix of the dial.

Date wheel looks a bit grubby.
Can't see the full dial. 55 minute tick marker looks a bit off...

I suspect issues with the dial. With that serial number and the open 6 in "610," it should be an MK2 or MK3 dial, and it's neither. Looks closer to the MK1 dial, which is generally accepted in cases up to 2.2 million serials, but it's not an exact match.
I'd suggest you study all the dial types on this great website: http://drsd.com/ |

I think with sharper pictures, and by going to the DRSD site swish77 suggested, you’ll see that dial’s double red text isn’t what it should be.
Looks like seller did pics with a smartphone and that’s not sufficient if you’re putting out a high price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

It's trying to be a Mk1 dial and failing. Wrong serial just makes it worse.

I did a quick dial check for you.
Mark III comparison: excluded Mark II comparison: excluded Mark I comparison: possible Mark I is the only dial which has both words SEA-DWELLER and SUBMARINER 2000 written in the same size; also on your dial. The 'S' of Sea-Dweller and the 'B' of Submariner are perfectly aligned; also on your dial. Together with the open '6' of 610 m and other characteristics, your dial could only be a Mark I. I hope that helps. Check again the watch serial number. You need much better photos of the dial to make more text size and alignment checks! |

As mentioned, Its closest to a Mark 1 minus the serifs and other font differences.

Yes and the font differences are so big as to be terminal. Better pictures won’t change the fact that the letters eg O and C are simply the wrong shape which is quite obvious above. Plus all the other issues about serial number and the fact that mK1 dials are quite rare and have Patent Pending case backs and are nearly always faded to pink or grey. Don’t waste any more time on it.
