5513 - help on bezel insert

Hi everyone, I recently got a 5513 from 1977 (serial 50xxxx) with an atypical bezel with pale-gilt numbers. It doesn't look like a fading to me as the gold colour is very uniform and the bezel is in overall good conditions.

The piece looks genuine for me, but maybe coming from a two tone date-sub.

Any thoughts?

thx in advance

It’s genuine. I’ve had loads of these where they’ve taken on a yellow hue. It’s just oxidisation of the sealer

so, I guess not from 77, right?

Thx for the reply. Do you have pictures or references of the mentioned oxidated bezel?

See the colour of the outer two inserts compared to the centre one:

Hi,
You can use this to learn about different types of inserts. To me, yours seems correct.

They’ve always been known as Mk3, Xeramics thread puts it at Mk5.1 which is far more accurate.

I think it's a MK5.1 according to that research, just a thinner version. Also known as a 'Rounded 4'.

I’ve seen that slight tint to the font color many times as well.
