Air King c.1971

Hi

New to the forum - I've recently inherited a Rolex Air King. Whilst I think it's a 5500 I can't find anything online to determine it's true age.

I can't check it's serial number as it has been engraved with a messag on the back on the back so assuming a blank case back was put on for this ?!?

I'm planning on having this fully restored as it's missing a crown, needs a really good clean and new glass

Any thoughts on model based on the image?

Thanks in advance

Take the bracelet off, check between both sets of lugs.
One is ref no, other is case serial number. That’s how you date it.

A lot of folks here are not going to want to open a .zip file.

As mentioned, you need to remove the bracelet at the 6 o'clock to see the serial. That will disclose the year of production, approximately..

Nice watch, Welcome to the Forum!
