Visit new AD
Hello
I just moved to the USA, I own Daytona, GMT, etc. bought abroad and I want to initiate a relation with an local AD here in the USA Do you think is a good idea to wear the Daytona for the first interaction? or do you think is better to wear a modest model? |

I wouldn’t worry about what watch to wear to establish this hypothetical one way , in the head, relationship, ….just aske the dealer what crap , with a high mark up price they have to sell and buy it. ‘Relationship’ established Or just go gray and save embarrassing yourself fawning/begging a SA |

Why anyone would think they got to wear any watch when visiting any AD defeats me, its just a retail shop that sells watches. As for this relationship stuff it mainly exists in internet land. And if you believe everything today about ADs you must spend a $zillion before you can enter there retail store, to become a VIP to even buy a Rolex watch.

unless it's iced out or a platona, i'd say a daytona is a modest watch. just be yourself, wear what you want, and and don't worry about stuff like this. no one will care.

Yes I say wear it… Wearing the Daytona would show you’re not a flipper that’s for sure. They will vet you positively with it on.. ie: must have had a great spend history with previous AD, non flipper etc..

I’d wear it. It is better that the realize you care about watches and might be treated more seriously when there are so many flippers entering the market.

Your overthinking it. If your not a flipper where whatever you want and find an AD you enjoy talking to.

I get treated better and with greater care at new ADs when I wear my white 116500.

Contrary to other posts here, yes, you should definitely wear it. You will find them surprisingly friendly once they see it.

I think it did matter that I dressed somewhat nicely (sports coat) and wore a watch like an AP or Rolex. that means I am a watch guy and not a time waster. Of course if you can drop 300k without thinking about it I am sure you can just walk into the PP salon in london in gym shorts. money talks but for everyone else these little things do matter. |

If you purchased your Daytona from an AD then it can be a topic of conversation. Most AD's will respect that if you managed to get a Daytona from an AD there was a reason for it. And it meant the watch went to a good home. Not a safe.
A Submariner or less 'pretentious' professional model perhaps. The sales associate to judge on appearances and I've seen watch shops (regardless of brand) glance at the wrist. And they do notice what you're wearing every time you visit. Mix it up a bit :) Wear the GMT the next time you visit! Once they get to know who you are it doesn't matter what you wear. Perhaps not a Fitbit or Apple Watch. I make a point not to make that faux pas after the manager commented she'd forgive me for doing. But impressions do count. Although I suspect if you have a GMT and Daytona you know exactly what you're doing ;) |

Utilize the same AD you had overseas. They've already given you some nice pieces.

I would be in touch with my original AD. But in the end it doesn’t matter I think. Wear the watch you feel comfortable with when going to an AD.

Whatever you wear, it will likely be the only Rolex you see at the dealership.

When I was offered the SS BLRO last year but passed in favour of a TT Sky Dweller they had just received, and this October when I collected my BLRO after a 15 month wait, I think it did matter that I wore a T-Shirt, shorts and no watch. That means I am a watch guy and not a time waster.
OP. Wear what you like and be yourself. They want to get to know you, not an image you project to hide behind. |

Wear what you want. Know that wearing a watch can spark a conversation about watches.

How you present yourself, how you are perceived, is defined by many parameters, like it or not. Wearing a Daytona vs wearing nothing will make a difference in how the sales person (a human running on caveman software) reacts. That is just the reality. |
