Hulk sells for $57,000 on Sothebys

https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auct...tainless-steel

Not a record breaking price but still noteworthy. $53,000 CHF (swiss franc) which equals over $57,000 USD. I believe this is also before buyers premium and VAT tax.

There are sooooo many better watches at that price point, BUT buy what you like and not the hype!

Sotheby’s post hammer prices include the premium and taxes.
That price looks like a bizarre anomaly, unless there is something special about that specific watch. There are plenty 2017 116610LVs unsold on C24 for $25k so why is this one special?

If that's how they launder, they won't be in business long, lol. I don't think it's a good deal to get less than 50 cents to the dollar when you clean your money.

These last couple of high profile auctions are going to make the 116610LV a $30k “going rate” watch. Just stupid. However, the market will determine for how long.

Muhahahah love flexing the best sub out there that I paid at retail in 2017. Just a true stunner feel bad for ppl who over wait or over spend for the rather BORING “Starbucks”

I think it’ll be normal at 50k in no time

Crazy how you can get that price at an auction site. People need to go to chrono 24 to grab it at a much lower price than that.

That’s simply crazy, geez I know this won’t be popular but it’s the least attractive sub I own. Love it on St Paddy’s Day though!

Probably just a gray dealer in cahoots with another gray buying it from each other for absurd prices to drive up the hype train.

Here we are discussing it now...

How many guys will read this exact thread then jump over to DavidSW- EtAl... and justify dropping 25K for one cause thats a great deal when they are going for $50k+ at auction.

Less iconic pieces by Rolex are being sold at higher premiums so why not the Hulk? Being the only SS Sub with a colored dial that simulate the color of the Crown !!!

Crazy I know but for a discontinued model at 30K it remains a bargin in this crazy market.

If you don't like it much why don't you sell it and buy something you truely like, I'm sure you can get a Pepsi, Blnr, or Starbucks with some exchange left.

Considering the OP41 Tiffany still has years & years of production, I'd say that Hulk was a bargain.

Then again, we shouldn't underestimate extremely wealthy people just got bored & decided to put their hands up in these auctions.

Exactly, look at the ss Daytona, and Tiffany OPs that still have a run of several years ahead.

That's less than two BTCs, a pretty epic win for only two US bucks.

I wouldn't bet on the OP41 brightly coloured dials staying too long in the Rolex catalogue.

They will stay for a very long time. Why would Rolex discontinue new successful models or dials, never happened.

Things are just getting silly. If you really must piss your money away on this hype at least buy it grey for $25-30K LMAO! Save the other $20K to hire someone to slap you!

Can people not google?!

I'm always wondering how much money these buyers make and why they are spending it this way.

This^^^^. Makes sense to do this if you have an inventory of 50 of these and a lot of grey market dealers probably do.

Who does that? That’s so hilarious and a waste of money.
