First Rolex - my story of waiting ...

It all started with a Rolex GMT Master II Batman, which I wanted...

I started calling, came up with it at an AD on a Sea-Dweller list, but no Batman. Luckily my neighbor works at an AD so I got in touch with her.
No Batman. She will call me when they have one in the store for a fitting. So I thought. "wow, I can try these on and then buy them, great!".

The call came, I was able to try on the Batman, a TT Sea-Dweller and a GMT Master II Rootbeer. But again: "actually all the lists are closed.... But because I know you, you are welcome to be on the list for the Rootbeer." Then she suggested the Sky-Dweller, so I got on the list too.

In the same breath, I picked out another Datejust for my wife. Two weeks later, my wife had a DJ 31 on her wrist, thus ahead of me. :-)

My impatience drove me spontaneously to another AD, who had a TT Sky-Dweller with white dial in the showcase. I thought I would try my luck. Unfortunately, the Sky-Dweller was marked with an X: not for sale.
Then I tried on a Sea-Dweller and a Deepsea and got put on the list of the Sky-Dweller and the Deepsea James Cameron.

New coincidence, new AD, this time in the neighboring country Lichtenstein. I come in, no sport models, no Deepsea James Cameron, but many DJ models. After a nice chat and quite a few fittings, I end up with a TT DJ 41 of the 162333. Wow, fits! "Can I buy this one?" - she clarifies with her manager and YES. Before I could then pay the DJ, magically a James Cameron came out of the safe: Not for sale ...

So I am super happy with my DJ 41 and am now patiently waiting for several listings to hopefully deliver something at some point.

Yes, the James Cameron and the Sky-Dweller with Jubilee, in blue, or TT with black dial.

Good luck with them. The TT Sky Dweller is IMO stunning in white. The black shouldn't be too difficult although I believe it's the most sought after TT model. My AD gets them less frequently that the SS models but there is low demand. I have recently been listed for a blue SS Sky Dweller on Jubilee. From what my AD tells me I'm guessing 3-4 years. Your mileage will vary.

I have a feeling you're going to get calls from the several AD's all at once and thus an avalanche of watches in the future. I hope your bank account is ready for that. But in the meanwhile, congrats!

That’s a great DJ41 and a nice collection of personal wrist shots! Good luck with the wait. Patience is a virtue in this game if you don’t want to overpay those days!

That would be a lucky punch. I would be ready, now, but I can't tell how ready I am 6-48 months from now.
