Did I get lucky for my first Rolex experience?

Hey all,

I had recently been looking for a Rolex and about a month ago, I put my name in a few boutique ADs, mainly looking for a Submariner 126610LN, Deep Sea M126660, and Daytona 116500LN.

Obviously knew the Daytona was unlikely but I got a call yesterday for a DSSD which I picked up today.

While I was speaking with my rep, she mentioned that it was unusual to get called this quickly but that Rolex/AD/whoever may have took note that I was an avid diver in my notes and decided to choose me, as they want folks who would wear it and not resell it.
I thought that was an interesting fact, as I did want the DSSD because of that, but also felt I just got it because no one else was on "the list".
Was I lucky or does Rolex/ADs choose people based on other facts?

Anyways, happy to be a part of the community.

Cheers,

Will

SD43 and the DSSD seem to be a lot easier to get than the 40/41mm sports models. That being said enjoy the watch and congrats.

DSSD is definitely not the biggest seller but having said that I do think you were lucky to get it so quick and your dive bio secured that.. A year and a half ago when I picked up mine at the AD someone walked in to buy it as well so there is demand for DSSD..

Btw, congrats

Lucky but not impossible. Glad you got the model you wanted without the games. Congratulations.

You’re lucky to want/fit/afford the deep sea over the sub or the other smaller harder to get models!

Also that dealer took care of you too.

The DSSD black dial and SD43 remain the best two gems in the pro range for attainability and also speak to those who buy them and being genuine appreciators of their capability and/or style. I'm glad they don't have the decade long list of buyers. Makes it somehow more special to me. (I have the dssd blk)

Congrats, a great watch. And yes, lucky. Been waiting over 13 months on a SD 43.

My AD keeps mentioning the same: they’re always looking for people that wear the watches and trying to make sure no flippers get them. Congrats on the new watch !

You telling them you’ll use it for it’s intended purpose probably put you to the top of the list. I agree AD’s want their watches used for something other than status symbols and profit.

I need to remember to tell my AD I have a car race coming up…

Thanks all for the warm welcome.

It is truly stunning and will be a family heirloom for sure, although, I doubt I will ever test the 3,900m depth capability on this piece.

Congrats. Demand or Rolex in NYC is pretty high because there are a lot of flippers in the diamond district. I am surprised your NY AD actually had that in stock.

I think it’s a lucky and great pickup. Way too many flippers out there. Your story helped.
